Job Summary
- The Physician Practice Administrator oversees the clinical and operational aspects of designated provider practice(s).
- This role involves collaborating with the Director of Physician Services, other Physician Practice Administrator, LPN/LVN-Clinic Leads, and Lead, Medical Assistants to enhance practice efficiency, improve patient satisfaction, foster employee engagement, and drive service line growth
- Additionally, the Physician Practice Administrator provides leadership to one or more LPN/LVN-Clinic Leads and/or Lead, Medical Assistants
Essential Functions
- Manages the daily clinical and operational aspects of designated provider practice(s)
- Ensures that care is provided to each patient in accordance with applicable compliance and quality standards
- Facilitates orientation, in-service education, training, and ongoing education for all personnel in the department(s)
- Conducts interviews and hires employees, while also providing corrective counseling, including employee relations and terminations when necessary
- Manages physician schedules
- Monitors assigned practices and collaborates with other practice leaders and the Director of Physician Services to ensure financial responsibility and adherence to annual practice budgets
- Provides leadership to LPN/LVN-Clinic Leads and/or Lead, Medical Assistants through performance management, coaching, and talent development, ensuring at least weekly communication
- Monitors practices for efficiencies to minimize practice investment, including accounts receivable oversight, budgeting, charge capture, and budget management
- Provides effective leadership to the assigned department(s) of responsibility
- Ensures that care is delivered to each patient in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Ohio
- Ensures staff compliances with hospital/unit policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines
- Participates in activities that ensure the competency of the staff
- Ensures proper staffing for the department(s) of responsibility
- Maintains accountability for fiscal management of the department(s)
- Demonstrates good management techniques in established lines of authority
- Demonstrates ability to adapt to varied age-specific patient populations
- Demonstrates maturity and accountability for job performance. Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Department(s) and organization. Assesses areas of personal and professional growth
- Supports and promotes excellence in customer/guest relations, patient experience
- Supports and promotes the organization’s Quality, Infection Control, Safety, and Risk Management Programs
- Ensures 90% compliance on hand hygiene audits
- Understands and adheres to all regulatory and compliance standards
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
- Approximate percentage of time required to travel: 50%
- Must read, write and speak fluent English
- Must have good and regular attendance
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent
- Strongly Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in business, organizational leadership, healthcare management, or related field
Licenses/Certification
- Clinical certification or licensure, including but not limited to registered medical assistant (RMA), certified medical assistant (CMA), medical assistant (MA), or licensed practical nurse (LPN)
Experience
- Required: 3 years in physician practice management or similar healthcare setting, with specific leadership experience
- Strongly Preferred:
- 5 years in physician practice management or similar healthcare setting, with specific leadership experience
