JOB SUMMARY
- Under the supervision of the Radiology Director, acts as a receptionist to outpatients and physicians coming into the department
- Interacts with patients and families in a professional, compassionate manner
- Directs patients to the respective waiting areas and/or modalities and enters orders into the Hospital Information System
- Functions as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs
- Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities as needed.

- Possesses knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of the other departments
- Practices continuing Infection Control with proper equipment and room cleaning, to provide a safe environment for all patients, at all times.
- Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal, and The Joint Commission (TJC) regulations related to the Radiology Services Department and facility
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times
- Contributes to team collaboration
- Interacts with patients and families in a professional, compassionate manner
- Uses open communication skills to facilitate patient flow
- Operates office equipment, including computer, printer, copier, and fax machine in support of customer service functions
- Answers all calls in a pleasant, professional, and courteous manner using proper telephone etiquette
- Reports errors and recommends changes to manager
- Assists in gathering information for the preparation of reports, patient tests, and billing
- Understands Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and burns compact discs (CDs) efficiently and effectively
- Assists in maintaining basic records, reports, and all Radiology files
- Adheres to deadlines and completes all work before clocking out and leaving
- Keeps current with local fire and safety regulations
- Participates in CQI activities and clerical responsibilities, as needed.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience
- 1 year of assistant experience preferred
