Security Guard PRN

Under the direction of Facility Services Manager, patrols various areas of the hospital’s buildings and grounds. Protects CMH property from theft or vandalism.  Assists in the control of visitors and patients as requested.

• Minimum of two (2) years full time work experience. 
• Previous security experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required. 
• Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license.

Duties: 

·  Patrols all areas inside and outside the Hospital checking locked doors. Records unlocked doors and notifies appropriate personnel when necessary.

•        Completes evening lockdown and morning unlock of designated doors.

•       Patrol parking lots and enforces CMH parking regulations.
•       Maintains a written log of all action taken on shift.
•      Investigates and documents any suspicious activity.
•      Performs monthly fire drills as scheduled. Inspects fire extinguishers monthly.
•      Performs monthly panic alarm tests and inspections.Responds to requests for maintenance.
•      Completes these tasks or calls on-call facility staff.
•      Performs routine maintenance as assigned by Facility Manager.
•    Completes documentation of work orders assigned through computerized work order system called FM Works.
•      Performs monthly fireman’s recall of elevators.
•     Sets up equipment for Helicopter landing zone and maintains a secure area while helicopter is arriving, sitting on ground, and taking off with patients being flown in/out.
•      Provides assistance with way-finding and controlling of patient, guest and visitor.
•      Observes and questions unauthorized personnel on Hospital property.
•    Upon request escorts and grants access to appropriate personnel to restricted areas of the hospital. Contacts local law enforcement personnel when circumstance warrants their presence.
•      Collect, document and secure all identified patient valuables.
•      Patrols walk and foot paths to ensure walkways are free and clear of any potential fall hazards.
•      Patrols walk and foot paths to ensure walkways are free and clear snow and ice. 
•      If snow and ice are found on walkways proper ice melting product will be applied by security officers.
•      Contacts Facility on call person during snow events. 
•     Will participate in department in-services, specialized job trainings to keep current with trends in the security field.
•      Complete all education assigned by CMH.
•      Provide safe/secure environment for hospital patients, visitors, and employees. Interior/Exterior patrols of all secured spaces and doors.
•      Respond to and assist with unruly, violent, intoxicated, mentally ill patients, guest or visitors.
•       Observe and report safety/security issues
