The Engineering Specialist primarily works to identify gaps in skills and knowledge to help define and coordinate the training of Maintenance technicians. The Engineering Specialist will also work with the Engineering team to help with first line issue resolution, project work, documentation, and production support. The ideal candidate will utilize strong problem-solving skills to resolve operational issues, possess advanced mechanical and electrical skills that support troubleshooting, while maintaining, improving, and repairing highly automated production equipment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Education/Experience:
Ten years of progressively advanced level of mechanical and electrical experience in industry. Proficiency at interpreting vendor drawings, diagrams, and schematics.

The Engineering Specialist will also work with the Engineering team to help with first line issue resolution, project work, documentation, and production support. The ideal candidate will utilize strong problem-solving skills to resolve operational issues, possess advanced mechanical and electrical skills that support troubleshooting, while maintaining, improving, and repairing highly automated production equipment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Develops and administers training for the Maintenance IMTAs and IMTs.
- Supports the resolution of trouble calls to Maintenance and Engineering.
- Documents and organizes the documentation of call resolutions to assist in future issues being resolved and maintaining a repository of those call resolutions.
- Develops and implements cost saving processes that improve equipment repair time, reduce man hours, and spare part usage.
- Collaborates with Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, PSI and Production personnel to initiate improvement activities when equipment is not operating according to established expectations.
- Must be able to diagnose and repair equipment throughout all areas of the plant as required.
- Proficient and able to work within the maintenance work order system (SAP).
- Works with various outside vendors for tasks and projects.
- Performs related work and additional duties as needed or required.
- Validate new equipment using IQ, OQ, PQ requirements.
- Develop prototypes for new solutions to include mill work, redesign, electrical circuitry
Education/Experience:
Ten years of progressively advanced level of mechanical and electrical experience in industry. Proficiency at interpreting vendor drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
- Strong maintenance background with mechanical and electrical experience, complex problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and project management.
- Must be proficient at reading schematics, CAD drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Proficient with the use of shop equipment to include mill and lathe.
- Work mostly independently with minimal supervision.
- Team player with good communication skills (verbal, written).
- Ability to effectively coach and train others.
- Working knowledge of shop floor systems.
- Strong computer and office application skills.
- Working knowledge of SAP, MS Teams, and MS Project.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with leads, peers, co-workers, and vendors.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and recognized QC tools
- Occasionally lift and/or manually move up to 40#.
- Occasionally required to work at heights up to 30 feet above ground on a ladder, in a scissor or a boom lift.
