CLJ is looking for an experienced Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) SME to join our team and oversee FOIA processing support personnel, ensuring compliance with FOIA and Privacy Act (PA) regulations, and managing the intake, review, and release of FOIA requests. This role requires extensive experience in FOIA processing, applying exemptions, and assisting government FOIA specialists in implementing privacy policies.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight, review, and feedback to contractors supporting FOIA and PA processing. .
- Receive, review, and assign new FOIA requests, ensuring they meet processing requirements under FOIA and PA.
- Conduct record searches, review, organize, and analyze search results, apply lawful exemptions, and redact responsive records per FOIA policies and established procedures.
- Provide guidance on FOIA procedures to government employees and FOIA requesters.
- Assist government FOIA specialists in implementing privacy policies and procedures.
- Process records for litigation requests with the same deliverables as non-litigation requests. .
- Sign confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement.
- Research and analyze sensitive, classified, or controversial data to make FOIA determinations.
- Evaluate correspondence and reports to determine FOIA applicability and ensure compliance with established policies.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred (equivalent prior military experience may be substituted).
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years of FOIA-related experience, with a preference for 10 years.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Pay Transparency by Location
The pay range for this position varies based on geographic location to reflect local market conditions.
