Job Overview
A Ranger (Security Officer) is responsible for protecting a person, organization or asset in the case of an incident. Their duties include monitoring a specific area, evicting trespassers and writing reports detailing any occurrences during their shift.
What does a Ranger do?
Rangers are employed by Cloud 9 Ranch Club, Inc. to protect people, property and assets and maintain a safe environment for all members, guests and staff. Their regular duties can vary from position to position depending on the needs of their employer, but they’re often required to physically monitor or patrol an area and ensure the safety of the people within Cloud 9 Ranch property. Rangers work as part of a team, while working with other departments to ensure the safety of all members, guests, employees and volunteers.
Responsibilities
- The overall duty of a Ranger is to protect the company’s property, employees and visitors. Here are some of their typical daily responsibilities that you can include in a job description:
- Patrolling and monitoring activities on the company’s premises regularly to ensure the environment is safe and secure.
- Enforcing Cloud 9 Ranch Rules and By Laws while following proper protocols and procedures.
- Monitoring the entrance and departure of employees, visitors and vehicles according to protocols
- Monitoring surveillance cameras to watch out for any disruptions or illegal activities.
- Providing detailed reports on daily activities and any incidents that may have occurred to management.
- Testing security systems and, if needed, and wearing proper security devices provided by Cloud 9 Ranch Club.
- Using provided communication devices such as two-way radios in a clear and concise manner as well as provided computers, tablets, etc.
- Performing CPR or first aid when needed. (If trained to do so)
- Responding to any incident (wreck, domestic, unlawful, etc.) while following legal protocols until local law enforcement or other emergency services arrive to take over.

Job Qualifications:

- Ability to provide legible written reports while following proper protocols and procedures
Ranger education and training requirements
Unlike many other professional roles, the right candidate for a Ranger position doesn’t need to have a degree. Most employers will consider applicants with a high school diploma or GED certificate. Companies typically give priority to candidates with a POST certification, prior security license or security training/experience. It is encouraged that candidates be trained in first aid, self-defense, and conflict resolution.
Ranger experience requirements
Candidates applying for a Ranger role have at least a year of work experience, this is not required but preferred as well as applicants who have worked in Law Enforcement, U.S. Military or those who have previous experience as a Security Guard, Security Officer or another similar role. Candidates should also have demonstrable experience working with security systems, be proficient in Microsoft Office and know how to write reports and citations.
This position requires flexible scheduling availability.
