What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal Software Engineer position at Cloud Software Group?
As a Lead Engineer on TIBCO BusinessConnect team, you will architect, design, and implement secure, scalable backend systems. You will optimize system performance, ensuring high availability and low-latency processing for large transaction volumes while troubleshooting production issues. Collaborating with architects, developers, and stakeholders, you will align solutions with technical goals, mentor junior engineers, and maintain high-quality code through reviews, technical deep dives, and detailed documentation.
The ideal candidate is a backend engineering expert with deep knowledge of Java, distributed systems, and modern cloud-native technologies. As an individual contributor, you will provide hands-on leadership and be instrumental in solving the most challenging technical problems.
Roles and responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of BusinessConnect features for both on-premise and containerized environments.
- Act as an escalation point for critical production issues.
- Guide the adoption of modern DevOps tools and practices, including CI / CD, continuous testing / security, and continuous monitoring / observability.
- Design and develop REST-based microservices and API contracts using Spring Boot and Hibernate.
- Design and implement solutions to address recurring issues and improve system stability.
- Implement / update industry-standard specifications for transport and document exchange protocols.
- Monitor and optimize endurance and performance metrics, collaborating with teams to benchmark and improve application performance.
- Design the overall architecture for Java-based applications, including front-end, back-end, and database layers.
- Guide teams on coding standards, architectural principles, and technical best practices. Mentor and support junior developers.
- Actively participate in coding, debugging, code reviews, and developing complex modules while ensuring adherence to coding standards, design principles, and best practices.
- Apply knowledge of industry-standard software best practices, development lifecycle processes, and Agile / Scrum methodologies.
- Estimate tasks effectively while identifying and mitigating potential risks.
- Meet regularly with stakeholders to understand business requirements and implement them into core platform services.
