Position Overview:
Cloud100 is at the exciting early stages of its journey, and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) will play a pivotal role as one of the key executive leaders shaping the foundation and future of the organization. As a startup nonprofit, the COO will work closely with the CPO (chief development officer) and the executive board to build operational frameworks, establish processes, and ensure that the organization’s mission of empowering foster care youth is effectively carried out. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of an impactful organization from the ground up and be instrumental in its success.
What your role looks like day-to-day:
- Executive Meetings: Attend and contribute to bi-monthly leadership meetings, where you’ll provide updates and strategic input.
- Oversight, Not Overload: Oversee staff which will help you to ensure organizational efficiency, along with internal policies; while partnering with the CPO and other executives to balance workloads and maximize team effectiveness.
Operational Leadership
• Oversee the organization’s daily operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and alignment with Cloud100’s mission.
• Develop and implement operational strategies, systems, and processes to optimize performance and scalability.
Strategic Planning
• Collaborate with the executive team to define and execute the organization’s strategic goals.
• Monitor progress on key initiatives and provide regular performance updates to the board.
- Oversee staff and policies internally and program wise to ensure organizational efficiency.
• Partner with the CPO and other executives to balance workloads and maximize team effectiveness.
Volunteer Management
• Support the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of skilled volunteers and staff.
• Develop transition plans for key roles as funding becomes available for paid positions.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in operational leadership, nonprofit management, or related fields.
• Strong understanding of nonprofit structures, including board governance and volunteer-led organizations.
• Ability to create and implement systems that support organizational growth and efficiency.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience managing remote teams.
• Passion for Cloud100’s mission of bridging the digital divide for foster care youth.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience in technology education or programs for underserved communities.
• Creative problem-solving and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment.
