POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Linux Engineer to join our team. This role involves managing, optimizing, and troubleshooting Linux systems to ensure high availability and performance for our applications and services. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration, automation, and virtualization. Expertise with FreeRADIUS, AWX, Docker/containers, VMware, Terraform, Proxmox, and Linux-based identity providers (such as FreeIPA) is highly valued.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design, configure, and maintain Linux-based systems and servers.
· Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure system reliability and uptime.
· Develop and implement automation scripts and tools for system deployment, configuration management, and monitoring.
· Configure, manage, and troubleshoot FreeRADIUS servers and RADIUS protocols.
· Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and orchestrate workflows using AWX.
· Set up and maintain virtualized environments using VMware and Proxmox VE.
· Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform.
· Deploy, configure, and maintain Linux-based identity provider (IdP) solutions such as FreeIPA for authentication, authorization, and user directory services.
· Perform routine system updates, security patching, and vulnerability assessments.
· Work with authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) systems to ensure secure access for users and devices.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy and maintain applications in Linux environments.
· Set up and manage backup and recovery processes for critical systems and data.
· Create and maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
· Stay updated with the latest Linux technologies and best practices to recommend improvements
Qualifications
· 5 to 7 years of experience as a Linux Systems Engineer, Administrator, or in a similar role.
· In-depth knowledge of Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, or Debian.
· Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Perl.
· Experience with FreeRADIUS configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
· Hands-on experience with containerization using Docker and workflow automation with AWX.
· Expertise in managing virtualization platforms like VMware and Proxmox VE.
· Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools, particularly Terraform.
· Experience deploying and managing Linux-based identity providers (e.g., FreeIPA).
· Strong understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP) and security principles.
· Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Familiarity with RADIUS protocol components such as EAP, PAP, and CHAP.
· Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
· Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud environments.
· Understanding of storage solutions (NFS, SAN, RAID) and load balancing techniques.
· Certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, or LFCS are a plus.
