What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the architecture and design of conversational AI solutions using Amazon Lex, ensuring they meet business requirements and performance expectations.
- Develop scalable, high-performing Amazon Lex chatbots and voicebots, leveraging AWS services such as AWS Lambda, Amazon Polly, AWS CloudWatch, and Amazon Connect.
- Design and implement natural language understanding (NLU) models to improve intent recognition, slot management, and dialogue flow within Amazon Lex bots.
- Create custom integrations between Amazon Lex and external systems (CRM, databases, knowledge bases, etc.) using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and other AWS services.
- Guide the development of advanced features, such as multi-turn dialogues, context management, fallback strategies, and proactive messaging.
- Optimize chatbot performance by analyzing data, user interactions, and logs to refine and enhance the Lex bots' efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide guidance on best practices for chatbot architecture, security, scalability, and integration with various AWS services.
- Work closely with product owners, business stakeholders, and developers to gather requirements and define functional specifications.
- Mentor junior engineers, lead technical reviews, and ensure consistent code quality, performance, and adherence to architectural standards.
- Drive automation and CI/CD practices to streamline the deployment and maintenance of Lex-based solutions.
- Stay updated with new Amazon Lex features, AWS tools, and AI technologies to ensure the team adopts the latest advancements in the field.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Lex bots, AWS services, and integrations with external applications.
- Lead architectural discussions, risk management, and the identification of technical debt in solution designs.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of hands-on experience in software development, with at least 3-5 years specializing in Amazon Lex, AWS AI/ML services, or similar conversational AI platforms.
- Expertise in Amazon Lex, including advanced configuration of intents, slots, dialogues, Lambda integrations, and voicebot development.
- Strong knowledge of natural language processing (NLP), machine learning (ML), and conversational AI principles.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Node.js, or JavaScript, and experience with Lambda functions.
- Deep understanding of AWS services, including Amazon Lex, AWS Lambda, Amazon Polly, Amazon Comprehend, Amazon Transcribe, and Amazon S3.
- Experience with Amazon Connect and integrating it with Amazon Lex to build end-to-end conversational solutions.
- Hands-on experience in designing and deploying scalable, secure, and high-performance conversational systems.
- Familiarity with AWS security best practices, including IAM roles and permissions, encryption, and authentication strategies.
- Experience working with APIs, webhooks, and creating integrations with third-party services.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation, Terraform).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Active AWS Associate certification.
- AWS Professional or Specialty certification, or commitment to obtaining them.
- Commitment to continuous learning through activities like reading technical documentation and participating in webinars.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Visio and Project.
- Strong scripting language proficiency, including Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, PHP, and proficiency in either Windows or a common Linux distribution.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting infrastructure components like Servers, Storage, and Networking.
- May entail up to 25% travel within the United States, including visits to customer sites or our Fort Lauderdale office if working remotely.
- Given the nature of our clients, occasional after core business hours activities may be necessary, such as migration tasks.
