Job Summary:
The Intake Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the intake process for individuals entering the correctional facility. This role involves conducting assessments, gathering relevant information, and coordinating with various departments to ensure a smooth and efficient admission process. The Intake Coordinator plays a critical role in evaluating the needs of incoming inmates and ensuring that they receive appropriate services and resources upon entry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Intake Process Management:
- Conduct initial assessments of incoming inmates, including medical, psychological, and behavioral evaluations.
- Gather and verify personal information, criminal history, and health records to facilitate the intake process.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with correctional officers, healthcare providers, and mental health professionals to develop comprehensive intake plans.
- Coordinate with external agencies and service providers as needed for additional support and resources.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all intake assessments and related documentation in accordance with facility policies and legal standards.
- Ensure that all necessary forms are completed and submitted promptly.
- Crisis Intervention:
- Identify and address any immediate medical or psychological needs of incoming inmates.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals in distress during the intake process.
- Education and Orientation:
- Provide information to incoming inmates about facility rules, regulations, and available services.
- Assist in orienting new inmates to the facility environment and available programs.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor and evaluate the intake process to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as necessary.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a correctional facility, mental health, or social services setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of criminal justice and correctional system processes.
- Skills:
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to manage potentially stressful situations and maintain composure.
- Capacity to perform tasks that may involve standing, walking, and handling paperwork for extended periods.
Work Environment:
- Work is conducted in a correctional facility environment, adhering to security protocols and procedures.
