Clough is seeking an SMP Estimator to join the Bidding Energy & Resources Team in our North Sydney office.
Reporting to the Bid Services Director, the SMP Estimator is responsible for preparing various bidding value estimates in accordance with the Webuild Bid Management Process (Corporate Procedures).
The SMP Estimator shall undertake the discipline preparation estimates and cost plans for a variety of tenders, budget estimates or schedule of rates build ups for a diverse portfolio of tenders, Engineering Studies, Priced Front-End Engineering Design and Concept Design bids.
Conducting independent estimate reviews may also be required, including reviews of estimates that have been prepared by external consultants or third parties.
As part of a de-centralised national team across Australia and when dedicated bid office shall be setup, the SMP Estimator may be required to travel to conduct the role’s duties and responsibilities at the bid office location.
The SMP Estimator will assist in the preparation of the internal reviews and approvals to submit and may participate in the corporate reviews and approvals meetings if required.

Your focus will include:
Review requests for proposals and tenders and contribute to the development of efficient and cost-effective pricing to be included in the tender response.
Review tender documentation to determine scope and specific terms and conditions.
Develop and implement estimates to assist with planning, coordinating and scheduling.
Develop accurate pricing models from the client or engineering supplied data.
Interpret and evaluate drawings to identify direct and direct estimates, including allowances for risk and contingency.
Collate material take-offs and job costs into presentable, clear, well-structured spreadsheets or databases.
Analyse benchmarks and historical costs.
Assist procurement to as required to obtain quotations from third parties for the provision of necessary materials and services.
Review estimates, labour cost calculations and cost estimates from internal stakeholders or external contributors for accuracy, suitability and completeness. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and industry bodies to ensure that new materials, techniques, and methodologies are utilised to provide cost-effective solutions.
Report to management the estimate progress and advise of any difficulties or constraints in compiling the estimate. Liaise with Business Unit Manager on the specifics of successful tenders and carry out internal tender ‘handover ‘meetings of successful tenders to supporting teams.
Participate in tender reviews with senior management and adjust costings as required.
Ensure relevant documents, deliverables and reports are submitted within the bid deadline.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of estimate, methodology and schedule.
Full understanding of legislative requirements and codes utilised in the structural, mechanical and piping industry.
Ensure estimate and cost planning processes and procedures are in compliance with Corporate procedures, legislation, statutes and codes of practice.
What you will bring to the team:
Degree qualified with significant experience on the job, engineer background. Experience with database estimating packages with part professional qualifications, e.g. Degree, Diploma or Certificate etc
Candy Estimating Software Proficiency
3 years minimum experience in a similar role within a bidding environment
5 years’ experience within the energy and resources industries
