Clover Park Technical College (CPTC) is seeking a highly skilled and innovative instructor to build a supportive learning environment focused on college degrees in Computer Science and Cyber-Physical Software Engineering. 

As an instructor for Cyber-Physical Software Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in guiding the development of both technology and people within our team. This position involves mentoring and supporting engineers across various skill levels, fostering an environment of continuous learning, innovation, and real-world problem-solving. You will help shape the direction of projects, working on industrial automation, software engineering, and systems integration. Your leadership will not only focus on technical growth but also personal development, empowering team members to adapt, innovate, and thrive in an ever-evolving field. 

The instructor is responsible for collaborating with instructors in Computer Science and Mechatronics to develop curriculum, and lab environment with cyber-physical software applications that blend computer science and mechatronics in a three-quarter capstone project that includes all aspects of software engineering, including project management, documentation, testing, and software quality. 

In this role, you will be responsible for fostering a culture of collaboration and creativity where both individual and team growth are prioritized. Apply your software engineering skills to provide support and mentorship to team members working on customer-facing solutions. Beyond technical guidance, your ability to lead and manage will ensure that the team remains adaptable and continuously improving. Pursuant to WA House Bill 2158, faculty teaching in high-demand programs, which includes the Computer Science Tenure Track Faculty program, receive additional compensation. Eligible faculty receive a variable stipend. The average faculty stipend for Fall 2024 was equivalent to $13,518 annually. The rate is subject to change depending on industry salaries, the number of faculty eligible for stipends, and funding. Funding for the high-demand stipend is appropriated through June 30, 2025.

This position is represented by the Clover Park Federation of Teachers, Local 3913, AFT/ AFT Washington.Duty: Provide instruction and skills development utilizing previous experience, knowledge, and skills to prepare students for employment in Computer Science and Cyber-Physical Software Engineering. 
Tasks include:
  • Create and modify curriculum as required to meet learning outcomes and industry needs through a continuous improvement process.
  • Maintain and manage equipment, tools, and supplies. 
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of professionalism and mutual respect with students. 
  • Maintain a safe environment through instruction, policy, and continuous evaluations.
  • Provide career guidance and job placement assistance. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Duty: Provide administrative support for the Computer Science and Cyber-Physical Software Engineering. 
Tasks include: 
  • Maintain accurate student progress records updated in a timely manner and assess and provide feedback on student learning. 
  • Submit student grades in a timely manner. 
  • Participate in program promotion events, program information sessions, and other marketing activities. 
  • Work with the program advisory committee to develop strategies for continuous program and course improvement. 
  • Attend department and division meetings. • Serve as an active participant on college committees. 
  • Provide and maintain program information and communication with the college community. 
  • Attend college In-Service Day activities, department, division, and other meetings and college-related events as required.
  • Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Software Engineering -OR-
  • Bachelors degree and 5 years of relevant work experience industrial software development or application and integration of software
  • Experience in software project management. 
  • Experience in industry 4.0, digital transformation, and cyber-physical systems.

Our college has a rich history of professional and technical education dating back to the 1940s, when Clover Park School District established a War Production program, training civilians as auto mechanics, aircraft-service mechanics, ship-fitters, welders and blueprint readers.
