Clover Park Technical College (CPTC) is seeking a highly skilled and innovative instructor to build a supportive environment for adult learners as they train for a career as a Medical Histology Technician (Ht/HTL). The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with the program’s diverse student body. Will help support the colleges’ work to cultivate an inclusive culture and campus climate by valuing diversity, sustaining an environment of belonging, and promoting equitable opportunities for all. The successful candidate will work to eliminate equity gaps and help students succeed in their chosen career path and in what is an increasingly diverse work environment.

Well-qualified applicants should be enthusiastic about continuously working to keep the curriculum relevant, researching and implementing the latest technologies to best prepare students for the dynamic careers that await them. Teaching responsibilities include Laboratory exercises in Fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, lab math, routine staining, professionalism, special staining, IHC, Tissue Identification, microscopy, and laboratory inspections. The successful candidate will collaborate with other faculty in the School of Healthcare and carry out functions related to the position as described below.

The candidate will collaborate with advising and other student services to best support student success. Additionally, the successful candidate will work collaboratively as an active participant in our shared governance processes.

We seek to create an environment of innovation and excellence that focuses on student success, lifelong learning, and social responsibility.  Duty: Provide classroom and lab instruction utilizing a variety of teaching techniques to prepare students for employment in the manufacturing industry. 
  • Create, implement, and modify curriculum as required to meet learning outcomes. 
  • Maintain and manage classroom environment, equipment, tools, and supplies. 
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of professionalism and mutual respect with students. 
  • Utilize online learning management system and incorporate multiple modalities into curriculum planning.
  • Maintain a safe environment through instruction, policy, and continuous evaluation of program equipment and laboratory space. 
  • Provide career guidance and job placement assistance. 
  • Assess and provide feedback on student competencies as established by industry standards. 
  • Maintain accurate student progress records updated in a timely manner and assess and provide feedback on student learning. 
  • Submit student grades in a timely manner. 
  • Coordinate teaching and clinical education 
  • Supervise applied laboratory learning experience
Duty: Program Support
  • Actively participate on advisory board. 
  • Promote the program and college.
  • Conduct program information sessions. 
  • Adhere to all Clover Park Technical College employee policies and procedures.
Duty: Program Input
  • General program effectiveness: Responsible for organization, instruction, evaluation, continuous quality improvement. 
  • Submit grades, book orders and other necessary paperwork in a timely manner. 
  • Actively participate and maintain a productive and professional relationship with the program’s Advisory Committee. 
  • Use sound judgement with respect to instructional materials and equipment and use.
  • Provide input for the program, schedules and college publications. 
  • Order laboratory supplies
  • Associate degree (HT)or Bachelor degree (HTL) 
  • American Society of Clinical Pathology - Board of Certification ASCP HT or HTL 
  • 1 year of bench work or graduate of the program 
  • Minimum of thirty-six hours of continuing education in the past three years. 
  • The ability to contribute to the college’s commitment to diversity by fostering a climate of multicultural understanding and appreciation.

Our college has a rich history of professional and technical education dating back to the 1940s, when Clover Park School District established a War Production program, training civilians as auto mechanics, aircraft-service mechanics, ship-fitters, welders and blueprint readers. Now, CPTC offers more than forty programs in Aerospace, Advanced Manufacturing, Health Sciences, Human Services, Business, Hospitality, Science Technology, Engineering, Transportation and Trades.
