Production Manager position:
Cloverleaf Farms, Inc is looking for a detailed-oriented and experienced Production Manager to join our family-owned farming operation. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing daily activities that ensure an efficient and an effective functioning operation. The position requires a deep understanding of agricultural practices ability, to manage operations in order to maximize yield and quality while ensuring compliance within the industry standards. Will work in conjunction with the Operation Manager on strategic vision, planning and execution in areas of making the company profitable.
Cloverleaf Farms, Inc is a privately owned and operated hybrid seed corn production company. Located in Elk Point, SD, the Curry family has produced hybrid seed corn in Elk Point since 1935. The seed we produce is bagged at our seed conditioning facility. Cloverleaf Farms has warehouse storage for seed corn and soybeans that are distributed across the Midwest.
Elk Point is 20 minutes from Sioux City, IA and 60 minutes south of Sioux Falls, SD. Elk Point is the county seat of Union County, SD. It is located in a great school district and is a town of 2,000 people. Elk Point is located on I-29 with 2 interstate exits. It continues to be a prosperous and growing community.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement strategies for planting, seed production, new production area development and other procurements
* Identify areas for improvement in processes, productivity, and quality. Implement measures to enhance overall business development.
* Manage staff, prioritize projects, and assign specific duties, as necessary.
* Assist in resolving conflicts and maintaining staff productivity
* Collaborate with other employees to ensure improvements are implemented correctly
* Work with Operations Manager on planting, harvest , seed corn production and conditioning to determine specific needs to effectively provide quality products and services for sale and shipping
* Creating strategies & recommendations for business growth, efficiency and profitability for the company
Qualifications:
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in seed production management or similar role in agriculture .
* Agricultural Knowledge: Possess an understanding of production agriculture, plant operations, and field equipment, as well as leadership and supervisory skills.
* Solid understanding of seed treatment and packaging processes, equipment, and quality standards is beneficial but not required.
* Analytical skills with an eye for detail
* Highly motivated and a proactive self-starter.
* Communication Skills: Strong in both oral and written communication, you can convey ideas clearly and effectively to different audiences.
* Adaptability: You are able to handle changing conditions with ease, managing priorities and responsibilities effectively in varied environments, from the field to the plant.
