What are the responsibilities and job description for the Master Automotive Technician position at Clovis Auto Shop?
Summary : Maintain service operations by inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing vehicles.
Duties :
Excellent diagnostic skills and general repairs.
Performs diagnostic work accurately such as trouble shoot electrical system on computerized vehicles, PCM / BCM system trouble codes, emission control systems / smog failures on OBD 1 and OBD11, mechanical problems, anti-lock brake systems, all non-computerized accessories, drive ability concerns, computerized A / C systems, and performs courtesy inspections.
Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives.
Technician will perform other related duties as needed. Completes preventative maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability :
Skill in the proper use of the tools and equipment used in automotive maintenance and repair.
Technician must possess strong understanding of emission failures and diagnostic / repair procedures.
Must have equipment maintenance knowledge, and ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Must have good problem-solving skills, be self-motivated, and have good judgment with a focus on quality and safety.
Technician must have knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
Experience, License and Certification :
Minimum 6 years of experience, must have ASE certifications, must have smog repair license, and must possess a valid state driver’s license.
Diesel experience preferred.
Physical / Working Conditions :
Essential job functions require heavy lifting and performing tasks that may require uncomfortable positions.
The noise level may get moderately loud, and the tasks involved include working with grease and dirt.
Individual must be able to stand for long periods of time, kneel, crouch, and get up from a sitting or lying down position with ease.
Repair shop is well-ventilated and well-lit.
However, building can reach uncomfortable temperatures.
