GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Quality Technician / Gauge Control will safely support the operation by ensuring that all measurement devices as determined by the Quality Management System are properly calibrated and controlled. This associate will ensure all tooling and equipment are in proper working order, calibrated at the desired frequency, and documented appropriately. This associate will have responsibility for torque tool review. As a member of the Quality Department, this associate will perform other duties as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain correct calibration of tools and equipment per the requirements.
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly identified, labeled, and documented per system requirements.
- Work closely with Operations and Maintenance team members to ensure that all torque tools are operating effectively and delivering the desired results.
- Trains and coaches users on proper handling and use of tools as needed.
- Assists with containment activities per the direction of Quality Management.
- Participates in teams for problem solving activities as determined by Management.
- Maintains high standards of Laboratory organization, physical and electronic file management.
- Assists with inspection requests as needed.
- Serves as a technical backup for the Metrology Technician as needed.
- Maintains safe and productive work environment by assuring the work area is clear of tools, brooms, debris, and other items that may present a hazard.
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- Must be able to work overtime, as necessary.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Education:
- Associates degree in relevant field or comparable work experience.
- American Society of Quality (ASQ) certification or other preferred.
Experience:
- 2-4 years of Quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity and understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 Quality Management Systems.
- Understanding of Lean Principles, Six Sigma, and other problem-solving methods and tools.
- Experience and knowledge of the operation and calibration of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), optical comparators, micrometers, various inspection gauges within the QA lab, and torque tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work requires periodic stooping/bending and frequent walking/standing throughout the day.
- Requires occasional lifting of objects less than 25 pounds as well as occasional lifting of objects 25 to 50 pounds.
- Work involves activities that require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, or vehicles.
- Requires use of personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
