The Principal Structural Simulation Engineer is responsible for ensuring high quality delivery and validation of products through analytical simulation. We are looking for highly motivated engineering talent to further mature our engineering simulation capabilities. This position requires the technical expertise and leadership to develop and lead engineering simulations, collaborate with design and test functions to answer questions, employ creativity to solve problems, and conduct projects in accordance with engineering excellence.
Expectations and Responsibilities:
- Conduct structural simulations. Required capabilities include nonlinear static and dynamic FEA as well as nonparametric optimization.
- Perform fatigue calculations and make life projections.
- Possess a high understanding of metallic and plastic material properties. Be able to create material property definitions when needed.
- Provide technical leadership over structural and system simulation as well as parametric dynamic vehicle modeling
- Review and assign simulation requests including the utilization of external partners when necessary. Work with requestors to understand needs and propose the optimal methods to address them.
- Support the Modeling and Simulation Vision through personal capability development using training, research, and project execution.
- Engage with industry and external groups to help build team capabilities
- Reinforce simulation rigor through participation in project requirements development, DFMEA and DVP creation, design reviews, and testing.
- Maintain excellent communication and collaboration with design and test functions.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering is required. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- 10 years in an engineering simulation or related role
Essential Skills or Knowledge:
- Proficiency with ANSYS and nCode
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
