GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Manufacturing Quality Technician will safely support the Operations Value Streams through structured problem-solving, sample inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives. Complies with all safety rules and guidelines while observing the use of all prescribed safety equipment.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct sample inspection of in-process and finished vehicles (target 5%) according to quality and safety standards. Provide immediate feedback to the manufacturing line to contain and eliminate root causes of findings.
- Perform daily standard work checks in zone with highest defect escapes from previous day. Identify opportunities for improvement in high-risk zones. Document and track improvements to completion. Track completed improvements for 3 months to confirm effectiveness.
- Support ME and MQ Engineers/Techs to solve FPY, DSI, and downtime issues in assembly and finished goods using structured problem solving. Identify poke – yoke methods to help eliminate defects. Read across to other areas as applicable. Train/coach manufacturing team members, where applicable.
- Participate in problem-solving with manufacturing team members to eliminate manufacturing defects found at the customer.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains a safe and productive work environment by ensuring the work area is clear of tools, brooms, debris, and other items that may present a hazard.
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- Must be able to work overtime and shift work, as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
- Associate's degree in a relevant field or comparable work experience.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- American Society of Quality (ASQ) certification or other preferred.
- Must be able to read and write in English.
Experience:
- 2-4 years of Quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong computer skills, analytical skills, people skills, relevant technical skills, strong listening skills, and strong written and verbal communication.
- Proficient in Excel and Microsoft software.
- Familiarity and understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 Quality Management Systems.
- Understanding of Lean Principles, Six Sigma, and other problem-solving methods and tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work requires periodic stooping/bending and frequent walking/standing throughout the day.
- Requires occasional lifting of objects less than 25 pounds as well as occasional lifting of objects 25 to 50 pounds.
- Work involves activities that require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, or vehicles.
- Requires use of personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
