What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor position at Club SciKidz?
The Summer Counselor position facilitates Club SciKidz Summer Day Camps' ability
to execute the 30 different themed STEM camps for young people ages 4-14. With
up to 20 make-and-take projects each week, campers explore the world around
them and get a sense of what it takes to achieve a career in the science and
technology fields that interests them.
Programs include experiments and projects in Robotics, Programming, Veterinary
Medicine, Special Effects, Minecraft, Chemistry, Rocket Science, Geology,
Paleontology, and many other science and engineering disciplines.
This is a full-time, seasonal position during the months of June and July. We do not
work the week of July 4th.

Counselors: Enthusiastically engage campers by leading them through STEM
experiments and lessons, hands-on projects, games, and activities for age groups
ranging from Pre-Kindergarten-Rising 8th Graders (4-13 years). Facilitate Pre and
Post camp games and activities with campers. Document all camp issues as
needed including camper behavior and incidents. Complete assigned
responsibilities including set-up, clean-up, and program maintenance. Assist with
daily check-in and check-out. Supervise lunchtime activities. Build and maintain a
good working rapport with co-workers, campers, and parents. Work in a team
environment, creating a safe and fun experience for children. Attend and actively
participate in weekly staff meetings.
Schedule/Availability Requirements: Normal Weekly Schedule: Monday-Friday
8:00 AM - 5 PM
Paid Orientation and Training: June 6, 2023 (In-person). There is also an online
training component to be completed.
Camp: June 10 - August 2nd, 2023 (Depending on location) Full time-temporary. Fort Pierce location goes from June 10th - July 12th with no camps during the 4th of July week. Vero Beach camps run from July 8th - August 2nd. Must be available on ALL dates at the location that you are contracted for.
Qualifications: Previous experience teaching or managing children required;
either in a formal or informal environment. Excellent oral communication skills are
required. Must be energetic, creative, responsible, dependable, and have an
enthusiasm for science and children. Must pass a background check.
Education: Must have at least one year of college experience to qualify for a
counselor position. Most successful candidates will be education, engineering, computer
science, gaming, and medicine majors.
