CLX Engineering is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Panel Builder II to join our team. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in assembling, wiring, and troubleshooting electrical control panels. The position is non-exempt hourly paid and reports directly to the Manager, Manufacturing & Facilities.
Our Panel Builder II position is NOT an entry level position and the key responsibilities for success are:
Panel Assembly & Wiring
- Assemble electrical control panels according to schematic drawings and layout specifications, ensuring compliance with UL508A standards.
- Wire panel components accurately using standard wiring practices, understanding wire color codes and protective measures.
- Perform precise tasks like stripping, cutting, labeling, and terminating wires.
- Install brackets and other components necessary for panel construction.
Troubleshooting & Testing
- Conduct functional testing of completed panels to verify their operational integrity.
- Independently identify and resolve wiring or assembly issues.
- Begin learning how to mark up and revise electrical prints to reflect design changes.
Tool Proficiency & Workspace Management
- Safely operate hand and power tools to complete panel-building tasks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace to ensure efficiency and adherence to safety protocols.
Project Management Awareness
- Work within project timelines and budgets, demonstrating an understanding of project demands.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet project quality standards and deadlines.
Adherence to Standards
- Start applying UL508A standards in panel construction while becoming familiar with relevant electrical codes.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals to ensure proper component installation and functionality.
- Read and mark up electrical schematics and layout drawings.
- Strong understanding of electrical principles, wiring techniques, and protection methods.
- Familiarity with a variety of electrical components and their applications.
- High school diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years of experience wiring panels. This is not an entry level position.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and others that may be required by clients.
- Satisfactorily perform tasks that require repetitive motions, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting and handling materials up to 50 lbs. safely.
- Pays attention the details and ensures the quality of work meets company and client standards and is proven by quality work that does not need consistent rework.
- Actively participates and may initiate training opportunities to enhance skills and keep up-to-date with industry standards.
