What are the responsibilities and job description for the Knowledge Lawyer position at CLYDE UK SERVICES COMPANY?
The Knowledge Lawyer (the KL ) will manage and execute key knowledge initiatives for the Group, working in collaboration with a range of knowledge and business support personnel throughout the US.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Core Knowledge Duties
Monitor legal developments, legal trends and regulatory changes, analyse key impacts, and communicate this to the Group, incorporate these changes into other knowledge work products in the Group and more widely (including the creation of market facing content, and precedent / practice guidance amendments)
Promote the contribution of know-how, and instigate processes to maximise contributions (including attendance at practice group meetings, regular reminders, end of matter de-briefs etc), and managing the administration of contributions to the practice group know-how collection
Deal with ad hoc queries from fee-earners
Build greater cross practice area connections between other knowledge lawyers in the region / globally
Work with the Head of Knowledge Management and Practice Group Leaders to raise the profile of the Groups by a more consistent application of best practices in content-led practice development and brand-enhancement
Strategically manage knowledge work products to maximise their use, including ensuring appropriate use internally and externally, and maintaining key knowledge projects to ensure they are up to date
Market-Facing Content Deliverables
Support alignment between local, regional and global business development and knowledge strategy
Develop content for thought leadership reports, legal publications, client alerts or client training as required
Monitor and track industry / sector developments relevant to the Practice Groups key clients, and feed into market facing content and other knowledge work product and deliverables
Create and deliver knowledge related content for client-facing business development materials, including pitch documents / RFPs / panel appointments
Support the Firm's key client programmes with legal / industry / sector specialist knowledge
Promote the wider utilization of knowledge, business development and innovation tools and processes within the region
Legal Delivery Deliverables
Create and maintain of precedents, templates, standard advice, and process maps needed by the region to promote efficient, streamlined work production and support delegation
Assess and develop best practice guidelines to support the different stages of the Practice Area matters, in conjunction with the partners, risk and other stakeholders
Identify innovative approaches to the improvement of service delivery in both technology and process
Liaise with the Firm's legal technologists to develop knowledge work products to use in conjunction with legal technology, such as contract assembly software for precedent / template use
Contribute to and assist with the scoping and administration of pilots to test innovation within the Group and across the wider Firm
Training
Support training in the US, and where appropriate globally by providing input into the curriculum, as well as developing training and presentation materials (including e-learning modules) and delivering modules as required
Support external client training by developing training and presentation materials and delivering modules as required, in particular identifying opportunities to recycle internal training materials to offer clients "added value" services
Liaise with the firm's Learning and Development staff in connection with the on-going training needs
Key Requirements
Strong academic credentials
Minimum 5 - 8 years post qualification experience as a practicing lawyer or knowledge lawyer, with direct involvement in transactions and advisory work
Excellent English language skills (verbal and written) and the confidence to communicate and present well in a multi-cultural, multi-level matrix environment
Excellent time management and organizing skills
Innovative and client-focused in the use of delivery media
Understands and promotes connections between KM, training and business development
Strong word processing, spreadsheet and presentation skills
Strong legal research and excellent legal drafting skills
Able to present information concisely and professionally
Self-starter who can demonstrate a proactive and positive attitude to their work
Consistently produces quality work and pays close attention to detail
Ability to work with remote supervision as part of a dispersed team
Able to multi-task and work on a variety of projects at the same time
