Internship Overview:
Are you passionate about the construction industry and eager to gain real-world experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment? CMC Development & Construction offers a summer internship program designed to provide aspiring construction professionals with hands-on exposure to various aspects of the construction process. As an intern with us, you will work alongside experienced construction professionals, participate in challenging projects, and contribute to our mission of delivering exceptional results.
Week 1-2: Orientation, Introduction, and Business Development
- Conduct a comprehensive orientation to familiarize interns with the company's mission, values, and culture
- Introduce interns to the various departments and key personnel within the organization
- Provide an overview of the internship program structure and expectations
- Focus on business development strategies, client relationship management, and sales techniques
- Assist in market research, proposal preparation, and presentation skills
Week 3-4: Estimating & Preconstruction
- Interns learn about the estimation process, including quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and project budgets
- Gain hands-on experience with estimating software and tools used in the industry
Week 5-6: Safety
- Focus on safety practices, protocols, and regulations in the construction industry
- Participate in safety training programs and site safety audits
- Learn about hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies
- Gain an understanding of safety equipment and procedures used in construction projects
Week 7-10: Project Management
- Interns work closely with project managers to understand project planning, scheduling, and coordination
- Learn about contract administration, change management, and document control
- Assist in project meetings, site visits, and progress reporting
- Gain exposure to project management software and tools
Week 11-15: Field Supervision
- Interns join field supervisors to observe and participate in the construction process
- Learn about site logistics, subcontractor coordination, and quality control
- Assist in monitoring project progress, conducting inspections, and resolving on-site issues
- Gain hands-on experience with construction equipment, safety protocols, and material management
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program, such as construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Strong interest in the construction industry and a desire to pursue a career in construction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
