Overview
Here at CME Contracting we specialize in multiple facets of the construction industry from Commercial/Industrial electrical jobs, directional boring & cell towers. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Tower Technician to join our team but we are willing to train the right candidate. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment on towers and other structures. This role requires a strong understanding of 4G/LTE, 5G & C-Band technologies, as well as proficiency in cabling and fiber testing. The Tower Technician will work in various field environments and must be comfortable with climbing and rigging.
Duties
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications equipment including antennas, cables, fiber and associated hardware.
- Utilize tools such as voltmeters to test electrical systems and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Climb towers and other structures safely to perform installations or repairs.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify potential issues before they become critical.
- Collaborate with field service teams to complete projects efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports and inventory management.
Requirements
- Proven experience in telecommunications, specifically with 4G/LTE and 5G systems.
- Strong skills in cabling techniques, including low voltage installations.
- Familiarity with fiber splicing processes and equipment.
- Proficiency in using testing tools such as voltmeters, 700/850 & 1900/2100 test equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in various field conditions.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and clients.
- Must be trustworthy and reliable.
Physical Demands
- Ability to climb towers safely and work at heights of 300 feet for long periods of time.
- Must be in good physical condition with good mobility and be able to lift one's body weight with equipment, tools, etc. attached.
- Ability to lift, pull and/or carry at least 50 pounds of weight.
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions year round.
