Family Development Trainer
Location: Rolla or Osage Beach Office
The Family Development Program has three major components: intake, assessing, and training. We offer support and services to families interested in fostering/adopting, and to foster, adoptive, and kinship families. All team members will be trained in each category, however hired with a specific focus in training or assessing. The purpose of this role is to support, guide, educate, and prepare individuals that are interested in becoming foster, adoptive, kinship, and/or respite caregivers. The role of trainer requires a versatile and multi-faceted approach, the willingness and flexibility to shift priorities, and a passion for the mission of this agency.
As a trainer, the employee will be competent in teaching a variety of curriculums that are required and/or recommended by the Childrens Division and partnering agencies. The training is provided, but further the comprehension and application of the material is thoroughly discussed and evaluated.
In this role, the employee must have a comprehensive understanding at the fundamental level of Childrens Divisions licensing policies and procedures. Family Development has the unique responsibility of providing services to both the licensing agencies and the families. It is imperative we meet the needs of both clients. Therefore, the main goal of Family Development is to ensure each caregiver is license ready.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate Training Curriculum:
Prepare and deliver several types of training curriculums for prospective foster, adoptive, kinship, and respite caregivers, covering topics such as child development, trauma-informed care, attachment theory, behavior management, and cultural competency.
Utilize various teaching methods, including presentations, group discussions, case studies, and exercises, to enhance learning and engagement in both virtual and in person classroom settings.
Curriculums include specialized training adapted to the needs of the children and caregivers.
Maintain Records and Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of training attendance, notes, and other relevant documentation in accordance with agency policies and regulatory requirements.
To complete pre and post surveys, along with testimonials, and all required documentation for agency and grant reporting.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with Childrens Division, licensing agencies, courts, and other community partners to ensure coordinated and comprehensive support for foster, adoptive, and kinship families.
Offer ongoing support in the continuum of care within our agency.
Refer to support groups, workshops, and peer mentoring programs to foster a sense of community and mutual support among foster, adoptive, and kinship families.
Assist caregivers in navigating the challenges and complexities of fostering and adoption, including managing behavior issues, accessing resources and services, and advocating for the needs of the children in their care.
