Responsibilities: Located within in a Big Ten University town, CMHA-CEI is seeking a dynamic Staff Psychiatrist to join our current group of psychiatrists. Under the supervision of the Medical Director, the Staff Psychiatrist will be responsible for the delivery of direct psychiatric services for adults or for children and youth ages 4 up to 18. Population served is dependent on the interest and training of the psychiatrist. Duties include providing psychiatric evaluation of patients, medication review and management, and consultation and coordination with other members of the multi-disciplinary treatment team. Responsible for carrying out activities of the program in a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies, and procedures. Opportunity to participate in education of residents and for clinical appointment to Michigan State University Department of Psychiatry.
Requirements: Possession of M.D. or D.O. degree and successful completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency program required. If the applicant is seeking a position treating youth under 18, successful completion of a child and adolescent psychiatry residency is also required. License to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine in the State of Michigan required. Applicants licensed in another state will be considered, but Michigan licensure required prior to hiring. Must have one (1) year specialized experience working with the desired population within the past five (5) years. Time in residency training may be included in this experience. Must possess a valid DEA certificate and number. Must be insurable through the professional liability and malpractice insurance provided by CMHA-CEI. Must be able to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and in written form. Demonstrated leadership and excellent judgment required. Access to reliable means of transportation for job related use required.
Conditional Employment Requirements: Offers contingent upon the results of background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, verification of professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, Board Certification, Controlled Substance license verification, National Practitioner Databank verification, educational background check and verification of an acceptable work history. May be required to be fingerprinted. Must be able to pass a pre-employment 5-panel drug screen.

Salary/Hours: Salary commensurate with training and experience. Flexible work schedule Monday through Friday, 20-40 hours per week. No-on call or nights. Potential for part-time or full-time position. Potential for providing services to both children/adolescents and adults if desired by applicant. Benefits provided at 20 hours per week including Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage.
