Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the CMHA-CEI Crisis Services Coordinator, in a 24-hour work environment, the 911 Center Crisis Call Taker will receive and assess emergency and non-emergency calls related to mental health, social work, Social Determinants of Health and other types of non-violent/criminal crises. The role includes determining the nature and priority of the crisis, providing immediate mental health support, attempting to resolve the callers issue without emergency services, and coordinating with emergency and community services as needed. This position is located at the 911 Dispatch Center in Lansing, Michigan. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program in such a manner that fulfills the specific 911 Call Center Setting and CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.
Requirements: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field is required. Possession of an appropriate State of Michigan credential is required. Four years' experience in crisis intervention and community mental health required. Must be able to complete extensive documentation within electronic records. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and solid computer skills are preferred. Access to reliable means of transportation for job related use is required.
Conditional Employment Requirements: Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, undergo and pass a Central Registry Screening, verification of an acceptable driving record, verification of a professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, educational background check and verification of an acceptable work history. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Salary: $64,313 - $72,384 annually, with scheduled, annual increases that can result in a salary of $82,929.
Schedule: Weds, Thurs, Fri. 10 – 10 pm and every other Saturday 10 am – 6 pm.
