Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Residential Group Home Coordinator, Community Services for the Developmentally Disabled (CSDD), assists in the personal care and training of individuals with intellectual disabilities in a residential setting. Candidate is responsible for implementation of skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs developed to maximize an individual's potential for increased independence. Typical duties include: training and assisting residents in daily living skills such as personal care; interpersonal communication skills; household cleaning; meal preparation and laundry; implementation of Behavior Treatment Plans which may include the use of therapeutic physical and verbal intervention; maintaining required documentation; and assisting residents in participation in community activities. Attends mandatory staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
Requirements: Possession of a high school diploma or G.E.D. is required. Will be required to pass and maintain certification in Department of Community Health Group Home Skill Training. Must be able to understand written instructions. Ability to accurately and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing is required. Must be able to read and follow medication charts. Candidate will provide crisis intervention as needed and must be physically able to lift 40lbs. Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable means of transportation for job related use is required.
Conditional Employment Requirements: Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a criminal background check (including fingerprinting), a physical exam, and verification of an acceptable Michigan driving record. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen. Must be able to pass a physical exam annually.

Salary/Hours: $19.91 per hour. 0-19 hours per week.
Relief Scheduling Expectations: Relief fills in for regular staff at various locations, shifts include overnights, evenings, weekends and holidays. You must make yourself available to work at least four (4) PM shifts per month - two (2) of those must fall on a weekend. You must make yourself available to work for at least three (3) shifts that fall on the major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve & New Year's Day.
