This role is a key member of our Operations team. The role develops and maintains strong relationships by continually demonstrating value through thought leadership and effectively impact business development, transitions, and transformations. Support operations with strategic sourcing, inventory management, and supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solicit, develop, and maintain strong supplier relationships:
- With an emphasis on tool and metal suppliers or,
- With an emphasis on component vendors and receiving quality.
- Negotiate price, quality with suppliers along with delivery accuracy and timeliness.
- Monitor and be accountable for certain portions of new projects through the organization and recommend ways to streamline the movement of materials and information through the supply chain.
- Provide purchasing support with the resolution of quality, delivery, and accounting issues with suppliers while ensuring orders are entered to enhance payables visibility.
- Effectively place orders with suppliers to manage lead times on components balanced with inventory investment (inventory turns).
- Issue production orders to support forecasted demand, open orders and replenishment schemes.
- Expedite or otherwise adjust deliveries when necessary to adjust to a changing schedule, and/or resolve shortages.
- Measure vendor performance based on delivery and quality while driving quality and cost improvements.
- Identifies and meets with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, inventory control management, negotiating prices and delivery terms.
- Issue Blanket Purchase Orders and negotiating Long-Term Service Agreements.
- Collaborate with production planners and Directors to understand demand changes and set up and maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Drives for results by consistently achieving goals and pushing to complete tasks by their deadlines.
- Develops and delivers communications with clarity and impact, ensuring consistent messaging.
- Encourages creation and brings new best in class ideas and approaches to the table for developing and executing category strategies and working within the supply market.
- Analyzes sales records and compares them to physical store inventory.
- Works with Directors to reduce inventory discrepancies and periodic cycle counts.
- Utilizes SAP to record, track, and maintain all inventory related data.
- Use inventory reports and develop forecasts with an emphasis on improving inventory turns.
- Monitor and advise on excess and obsolete inventory with an emphasis on inventory turns >= 4 and cash flow.
Education and/or Experience
- Previous Purchasing Experience
- Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems (SAP)
- Solid analytical skills to evaluate multiple suppliers to ensure accurate pricing, quality, on-time delivery, and other relevant factors utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
- Expertise in MS Excel is a plus.
- Develop ideas and strategies to improve inventory metrics, add value, aid business performance, and work toward a strategy of continuous improvement.
Skills and Abilities:

- Experience with MRP/ERP implementation and Bills of Material.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to foster continuous improvement and collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

- Strong leadership capabilities.
