JOB PURPOSE: A Maintenance Technician ensures that the facility’s equipment and machines are maintained properly by completing preventive tasks, inspects for proper operation, and assists in repairs when necessary.
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician performs maintenance tasks and inspections on production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive, and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of business goals and objectives.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment.
- Performs a variety of tasks to aid in efficiency, safety, and organization.
- Assists department with housekeeping tasks, not limited to pallet, garbage, and cardboard removal.
- Assists with machine problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests, and adjusts as needed.
- Performs regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
- Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work area.
- Works with Safety Coordinator to resolve hazards and work towards continuous improvement.
- Utilizes Company software to manage work orders and track asset repair costs.
- Transporting Materials to offsite locations with company provided equipment.
- Provides personal basic tool set to complete work tasks.
- Performs preventive maintenance according to provided schedules.
- Performs light fabrication utilizing MIG and Plasma when required.
- Completes required safety training.
- Maintaining inventory of consumables such as filters, lubricants, fasteners, fuses etc.
- Communicates goals and project progress to manager on a scheduled basis.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Required Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED;
- Maintenance Technician with 1-2 years’ experience, have an advantage over other candidates, but it isn’t required;
- Detailed-oriented; must also be able to work well under pressure during tight deadlines;
- Production Planning, Controls and Instrumentation, Strategic Planning, Dealing with Complexity; and Manufacturing;
- Experience in fast paced, high unit retail Distribution Center environment;
- Inventory control is strongly preferred; Product control systems;
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
- Good written and verbal communication skills;
- English preferred;
- Basic math skills;
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects;
- Ability to read, write, sort, check, count and verify numbers;
- Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel;
- Satisfactorily complete the 90 day probationary period.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50-70 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
- Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.
- Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
- Ability to walk, hear, see in order to reasonably perform essential job functions.
- Ability to stand and perform various job functions for long periods of time.
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
- Required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, sit and climb or balance
- Required to regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to tolerate conditions associated with no air conditioning or heat
