Description : Summary / Objective
Assistant Foreman is a preparatory leadership role to help build a foundation for future leadership and management roles within CMS. This is a gradual way for one to begin to understand the complexities and challenges that come with leadership.

Essential Functions

1. Perform controls low voltage wiring using best practices, system include but not limited to
a. Basic HVAC equipment
b. Advanced mechanical systems (AHUs, chilled beams, De-hum units, chiller plants, etc)
c. Fully customized IO panels with field engineering
2. Perform controls wire management and quality control; this includes conduit, wire hanging accessories, and powering of devices
3. Ensure proper allocation usage of control materials; ensure all field equipment is properly accounted and documented
4. Complete all required electronic paperwork in a timely and accurate manner; this includes point to point and redline adjustments
5. Communicate regularly with CMS Controls project teams to receive daily assignments and report completion
6. Provide feedback to Installation manager on quality control initiatives, process, and technical issues
7. Communicate professionally with site contacts (customers, trades, etc.)
8. Participate in job planning, lead teams / contractors on project installations
9. Adherence to CMS standards
10. Participate in job related meetings; this can range from kickoff to project closeout
11. Communicate regularly with the project management and install management staff
12. Ability to work overtime along with overnight work if requested by controls management staff
13. Support CMS Controls financial goals and principles
14. Always conform with CMS Controls policies and procedures
15. Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions
16. Always exhibit professional conduct, whether at the job site or driving company vehicles
17. Maintain any necessary licenses or certifications which may apply
18. Attend required department meetings
19. Attend company or vendor training as required
20. Work with and train any CMS Controls helpers / apprentices assigned to your job team
21. Complete and build on your Controls Technician Skill Set Tree (Evaluation to be provided by your manager)
22. Assist in conflict resolution

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has the following supervisory responsibilities :
1. Ensure the of safety of crews working under you
2. Provide guidance and knowledge to various aspects to the installation of a project
3. Ensure hours and budget for projects are being used appropriately
4. Project planning
5. Conflict resolution within the field, or knowing when to escalate issues to others in management
6. Completing required forms, dailies, JHAs, red lines, etc.
7. Coordinating with subcontractors, general contractors, project managers via email, meeting, phone calls, etc.
8. Assist with items delegated to you by those in management
9. Mentor and provide basic training to Control Installer 1- Journeyman
Work Environment
Assistant Foreman will work in mostly in the field, such as but not limited to commercial buildings, office buildings, schools, hospitals, government buildings and factories. The worksites may be very hot or cold due to the heating and cooling systems yet to be installed and because some parts of these systems are located outdoors. Working in cramped spaces and during irregular hours is a possibility. Ability to climb ladders will be needed.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This position is highly physical and requires regular use of ladders, walking, hand and power tools, lifting of heavy objects and PCs / Ipads.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, with typically Monday through Friday, 7 : 00 AM to 3 : 30 PM hours. Overtime and irregular hours are frequent.
Travel
Weekly travel to CMS Controls locations in the greater Atlanta, GA area is required.
Requirements :
Required Education and Experience
1. Have a high school diploma or GED
2. At least 18 years old
3. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and participate in a drug free workplace
4. Possess a clean driving record and a current driver’s license
5. Strong steady work history with 1 years minimum performing building controls service / installation
6. Operating knowledge of Windows and PC functions; this includes navigating Windows file system, installing software, and using a multi-meter
7. Ability to safely use hand and power tools
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Associates degree and / or certificate from trade school
2. Work experience
3. Journeyman Controls Installer
4. OSHA 10 or 30 certification

1. Demonstrated history of working safely and following safe working practices
2. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with CMS Controls customers and coworkers, while supporting CMS Controls culture
