1 SUMMARY:
The Engineering Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the planning, coordination, and
execution of various engineering projects. They use their extensive knowledge of
engineering principles and managerial skills to ensure the successful completion of projects
and the effective functioning of their team.
2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Directs and supervises engineers.
• Oversees the design, development, and implementation of engineering projects.
• Sets clear objectives and deliverables for the engineering team aligned with customer requirements and company goals.
• Reviews and approves project designs and deliverables.
• Works in collaboration with other departments for smooth execution of projects
• Ensures engineering operations and activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
• Ensures that Engineering procedures and related documentation are coordinated and in compliance with the CMS
Business Management System (BMS).
• Creates and manages budgets for projects and the engineering department.
• Performs administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditure, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
• Identifies, analyzes, tracks, and mitigates project risks.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of technology and industry trends.
• Conducts performance evaluations and provides feedback to staff.
• Ensures the use and implementation of the principles of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) throughout the Engineering team.
• Leads and manages the engineering team, promoting a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
• Develop and implement engineering standards and procedures to maintain high-quality outcomes.
• Manage and optimize resource allocation to ensure efficiency.
• Present regular updates and progress reports to senior management.
• Works with senior management to develop, manage and improve current company’s product line as well as any additions to the company product line.
3 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for supervising the Engineers in the Engineering Department which include but are not limited to; interviewing, hiring, training, planning; assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the CMS Business Management System (BMS), policies, procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
4 QUALIFICATIONS:
• BSc/BA in engineering, or relevant field; MSc/MA will be a plus.
• 2 years’ experience as an Engineering Manager or similar leadership role.
• Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and procedures.
• Experience with project management and team leadership.
• Familiarity with industry-specific technologies and development tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
4.1 COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to adapt to and use a variety of business software systems. This includes ERP, MRP, and CRM systems.
• Must be familiar with Engineering CAD systems such as Solid Works and AutoCAD.
4.2 OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Understanding of general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash-flow management.
• Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management.
• Ability to build consensus and relationships among company stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

5 PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• This role is primarily office-based but may involve travel to project sites or meetings with customers.
• Continually required to stand, walk, sit, bend, balance, kneel, crawl, and utilize hand and finger dexterity.
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather related).
• Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
• Occasionally works around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals.
• While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment can exceed 120 decibels (dBA).
