Role Summary:
Reporting to the Shop Manager, FRP Composite Production Technician will possess skills to handle composite materials, cut and assemble materials in our production process, perform hand layup fiberglass fabrications, perform VTRM (vacuum transfer resin molding), perform finishing and cleaning of products and related equipment in an industrial environment.
Job Description:
· Must be willing to learn how to work with FRP composite materials including resins, fibers, metals, and plastics.
· Must demonstrate proficient skills and working knowledge or the willingness to learn vacuum infusion process, hand layup techniques, closed and open molds.
· Ability to identify quality issues, repair defects, look for improvements in efficiency.
· Be proficient in operating common power tools and hand tools.
· Be skilled in carpentry/wood working
· Demonstrate strong ability to use basic measuring tools such as tape measures and rules.
· Possess a broad understanding of shop processes and equipment.
· Required to work closely with other staff in a production shop environment.
- Read and understand shop drawings of products and components for fabrication.
- Follow all aspects of our company health and safety policy.
Requirements:
· ACMA Certificate would be an asset specifically ACMA CCT-VIP {Vacuum Infusion Process}
· Candidates must be physically fit and capable of manual work, including handling and assembly of molds, fiberglass and other composite materials, cutting, wrapping, folding, and measuring parts.
· Previous experience with VARTM manufacturing techniques would be considered an asset.
· Composite Production experience is preferred
· Composites training will be provided to the right candidates who demonstrate skills and willingness to learn.
· Possess excellent communications skills and will be required to work in a team environment with other key personnel.
· Self-motivated, energetic, and eager to learn new skills.
· Able to perform work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
Class 5 Driver’s license would be an asset
Other Qualifications:
· Must have good communication skills – read and write English fluently.
Pay Range: $20.00 - $24.00 based on experience.
