We are currently seeking a highly motivated Construction Technician II
located in Portland, OR.
Overview:
This position will assist at least 1 Construction Manager with plan review, quantity take-off, constructability reports, and bid award for construction projects at the Columbia Boulevard Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma required
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or other related field preferred
Required Certifications/Licenses:
- Valid State’s Driver’s License
Required Qualifications:
In order to become a candidate, you must possess the following skills and abilities:
- Three (3) years relevant construction experience
- Knowledge of construction management and office procedures.
- Skill in performing routine engineering calculations, detail oriented, experience reading and interpreting plans, excellent computer skills, and good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Federal documentation is a plus.
- Experience with construction management/project management software a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinating preconstruction activities, attending meetings, preparing minutes, and managing the electronic files.
- Process and manage construction submittals, requests for information and other project documentation; organize/print digital photos, draft correspondence, and copy documentations as needed; and process progress payments, change orders, force accounts and claims.
- Perform basic engineering and mathematical computations; utilize specialized drafting, engineering, surveying or electronic tools, materials, and equipment.
- Work on treatment plant and pump station capital projects.
- Interpret and explain both orally and in writing technical information to the public, specifically
City Codes, policies, procedures, and regulations. - Search and obtain information from such documents as engineering or architectural drawings, regulations, reports, application forms, manuals, property records, plans, specifications and various kinds of maps, graphs, and construction plans; gather, record, and analyze data to prepare technical reports, documents, and recommendations.
- Draft line drawings, update maps, plot graphs and prepare display materials.
- Provide effective customer service through a variety of communications methods, including presenting and conducting meetings with the public in support of assigned projects or programs.
- Operate a variety of computer software programs to record and analyze data, maintain technical files, and prepare maps, plans, records, graphics, documents, and reports.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with bureau management and staff, contractors and others encountered in the course of work.
Salary:
- $36.50-38.50/hr.

A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management’s discretion.
