General Summary
The ideal and successful Party Chief will be a self-starter with a decisive, positive, detail-oriented land surveyor professional, who can work independently and communicate well with other project team members.
The Party Chief is in charge of all aspects of field work. This person is expected to accurately collect field data using said equipment.
Performs field survey activities in accordance with standards set by State statutes and the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping.
The Party Chief must be able to research the subject property thoroughly and provide accurate field information.
This position includes a company truck, fuel card, and full set of surveying equipment to use on the job.
Qualifications
· BS in Survey or AA with a survey emphasis preferred
· 4 - 6 years’ relevant experience
· Licensed surveyor in the State of California preferred
· Knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD and other relevant software needed for the position
· Ability to multi- task and set priorities effectively
· Competent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment
Essential Job Functions
· Must be able to thoroughly research subject property
· Accurately calculate and record field data (perform map check, translate and rotate reference coordinates onto measured field coordinates) a recorded subdivision plat or a metes and bounds legal description
· Set up robotic total station, accurately gather survey data
· Knows how to interpret control point records and data sheets, as well as locate points in the field and can direct crew accordingly
· Communicate project instructions clearly to both field and office staff
· Adheres to established company policies and standard procedures and enforces accordingly
· Must know field/survey terminology and codes specific to State of California
· Continually monitoring field equipment and supplies inventory
· Ensures that field equipment is available and ready to use when needed
· Ensures that the field truck is fully equipped and ready to use each day
· Updates supervisor on a daily basis the status of said project(s)
Responsibilities
· Organize and manage field survey crew efficiently
· Prepare field packages for the field crew with all the necessary information
· Schedule field crew to maximize efficiency and accuracy
· Upload and download project data on a daily basis for work completed and check for accuracy
· Complete projects on time, in budget and within quality parameters while meeting client expectations
· Assist and engage in proposal development, prepare estimates, proposals, etc.
· Research property information, interprets maps and deeds, etc.
· Ability to prepare property exhibits, maps, ALTA surveys, map checks, and topographic exhibits, etc.
· Knows how and enforces neat and orderly field notes for standard surveying operations: leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, profile and cross-section surveys
· Prepares daily time sheets, data logs, expense reports and field change orders
Knowledge of:
· Mathematical principles
