JOB DESCRIPTION AND / OR DUTIES
Assists in determining the direction and feasibility of studies based on database expertise and knowledge of results of previous research.
Prepares detailed program specifications including database structures, file formats and data dictionaries.
Designs, codes, tests, and documents very complex application programs and systems, including models and tools.
Develops the most efficient approaches for designing data systems.
Interacts with others to exchange ideas, verify assumptions, and check on design feasibility.
Mentors and provides general work direction to lower level applications programmers.
Maintains technical currency.
Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical or quantitative field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Minimum 12 years' related experience.
Skills:
Proficient in at least two programming languages (e.g., C , Java, etc.), experience with statistical and database software packages such as SAS, STATA, and SQL is a strong plus.
Knowledge of analytical methods.
Familiarity and experience working with and analyzing military personnel data is highly desired.
Strong interpersonal and written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work without technical supervision on multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to make and monitor work assignments for lower level programmers
Work Arrangement: This position is eligible for telework work arrangements at the discretion of the Supervisor. Employees may be required to work at CNA headquarters or other work locations resulting in changes to the scheduled work arrangements
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain an active security clearance. Active security clearance upon hire preferred.
