As a Production Team Lead, you will drive a culture of manufacturing excellence, by coordinating the production tasks of your area. You will not only assist the supervisor in needs of production, employee relations and hiring, you will also work on personal leadership development. You will communicate safety practices, quality initiatives and departmental targets to the team; motivate team members and assess overall team performance. The Production Team Lead is to maintain a culture that prioritizes safety, quality, and productivity, in that order, by promoting employee involvement in continuous improvement efforts.
Team Lead in the Engine Machining area will be responsible for ensuring that operators 1st priority is safety. Will also be responsible for making sure that quality components are being delivered to our customers. Ensuring that the operators have everything that they need to be successful and keeping track of departmental KPIs. Will take the lead on continuous improvement projects including our departments 5S journey along with leading weekly LDM meetings. Will perform random quality checks on a daily basis. Will also help with problems being encountered within the machine shop along with problems being experienced by the engine assembly line. Machining background is preferred

Essential Responsibilities:
- Direct work activities of 2-25 employees
- Communicate effectively, help run team meetings, giving daily direction and goals to production workers
- Utilize reports, standard hours, actual hours, absorption, performance, schedule, etc.
- Assist supervisor with employee interviews, reviews, and development
- Assist in safety Risk Assessment and SEWO process
- Assist in quality HERCA process
- Contribute to continuous improvement and emphasize the importance of employee suggestions
- Uses basic problem-solving techniques to define or resolve routine problems
- Operate various tools and machines such as manual and electric pallet jacks, hoist, air tools, etc.
- Fill in for missing supervisor or employees when absent, performing routine and non-routine repetitive production and/or service duties to include operation of specialty machinery, setup of complex tooling and equipment, completion of reports and logs, and follow-up on work schedules
- Work with R&D in the development of new product launches
- And other duties as required
- High School Diploma or HiSet (Formerly GED)
- Regular, predictable and reliable attendance
- Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Globally Harmonized System (GHS) labels, Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
- Ability to work with computers and software systems, must wear all personal protective equipment PPE
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stooping, twist, reach, reach overhead
- Must be able to climb, push, pull, lift up to 20 lbs. constantly, 21-30 lbs. frequently, 31-40 lbs. occasionally, and 41-49 lbs. rarely.
- Work in both controlled and non-climate-controlled areas
- Work in hearing conservation areas
- Preferred 2 years of experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment with at least 3 months in production
- Associate degree in related field
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
