CNO Financial Group’s IT Team is hiring a Mgr, Technology Platform Owner to be accountable for aspects of the technology platforms within their assigned portfolio. Success factors of the role are tied to timely, on-budget delivery of business initiatives, production stability, and productive business relationships. Business initiatives are typically small to medium scale or a sub-capability of larger business initiatives with delivery activities led by a Program Manager.

As a Mgr, Technology Platform Owner, your responsibilities will include:

  • Full management responsibility for a TPO team, which typically includes solution architects.
  • Leading a small to midsize subset of a respective portfolio and ensuring timely delivery of business initiatives.
  • Participating in respective technical platform area operational planning process and providing input to defining objectives.
  • Providing input into the business and technical fitness of respective application portfolios and insights into potential cost efficiencies.
  • Managing support activities in conjunction with infrastructure and operations teams to ensure the application products perform well in production.
  • Running respective vendor relationships and respective budgets.
  • Collaborating with the Security team to ensure that the organization's application products are effectively secured and that risks are mitigated.
  • Supporting the Director, Technical Platform Owner (TPO) and product management to implement and lead change requests to production, application product roadmaps status reporting, metrics, and benchmarks.
  • Managing the development of processes and tools in conjunction with infrastructure and DevOps members, to automate the handoff of code releases (DevOps).
  • Developing positive relationships with product managers and Business Relationship Managers (BRMs) across the organization to provide insights on how applications can enable sources of value.
  • Managing application group personnel, developing their skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the organization, as well as building on existing recruiting capabilities to address new needs and skills gaps.

The Mgr, Technology Platform Owner position is well-suited for you if you:

  • Have a demonstrated ability to lead others, provide direction, and explain information to employees and colleagues
  • Possess a strong understanding of software application development principles and processes
  • Understand the overall business objectives and have the business domain knowledge to complete objectives.
  • Are a strong communicator with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate effectively with technical staff, business stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Have experience with lean IT, agile and waterfall development, and DevOps principles and frameworks

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Business Management or a related field
  • Typically, a minimum of five to seven years of experience
  • Previous experience managing or leading a team in application product development or implementations
  • Experience collaborating closely with middle management

  • Strong organizational skills and management of multiple priorities with contending demands for resources
  • Strong analytical, data processing, and problem-solving skills
  • A proven track record of developing strong relationships with vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery of services and products
  • Experience coordinating and integrating the efforts of onshore and offshore teams to achieve project goals and maintain seamless operations.
  • The ability to develop and manage project budgets and resource needs, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals

Associates who live outside of a 60-mile radius of a corporate office (Birmingham, Carmel, Chicago, Orlando, and Milwaukee) may perform this role full-time work from home (WFH) from any US-based location, as long as you are willing to work central or eastern time zone hours.

All associates may be asked to travel to varying corporate offices periodically. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
