Optavise, a CNO Financial Group company, is seeking a Senior Frontend Java Developer to drive complete medium to large size projects with limited direction. Senior Developers are motivated and ready to brainstorm on technological solutions to complex problems, take charge of the project and coordinate its workflow to consistently produce business value. The Senior Developer will lead by example with an agile approach and continuously seek opportunities to improve the company’s SDLC process. The Senior Frontend Java Developer will have Domain logic necessary to code, design and significantly innovate the architecture and stability of the product while focusing on controlling technical debt.

As a Senior Frontend Java Developer your responsibilities will include:

• Perform standard and complex programming tasks, code review, prioritizes work with other developers, participate in Technical Requirement gathering and optimizes Service-oriented programming (SOP) and/or Functional Specs for prior role(s).
• Write functional specifications for medium to large features: Complex Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) Responses (micro-services, many vs single), Billing or external reports, heavy code refactor, multi app features and write and execute unit test.
• Perform expert Analysis Code Review for compliance and coding standards for lower peer pull request.
• Ensure delivery of work assignments, programming coding standards, code repository design patterns, new tools and processes when required.
• Expert with engineering and programming foundation: Frameworks, complex Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and Auto Import Processors (AIPs). Uses tools needed to debug and diagnose issues in a test and/or simple production environment.
• Mentor and coach other developers and team members.
• Identify key factors between applications.
• Help determine software capitalization and document developer notes to help Business/Systems Analyst (BA/SA) with technical specifications and Quality Assurance (QA) to determine test coverages.
• Meet or exceed the delivery timelines/expectations for the project (e.g., deliver on committed work within the sprint) and expert in estimating coding efforts.
  
  
  

The Senior Frontend Java Developer position is well-suited for you if you:

• Manage Database (DB) and data compliance.
• Understand MVC Architectural Patterns
• Show that you are well-versed in database administration, performance, and index optimization. Can do the delicate work of composing advanced select queries. Understand the two-phase commit algorithm (2PC) applied for coordinating a distributed transaction (commit/abort).
• Can replace slow cursor-based operations with much more efficient JOIN statements, where possible.
• Communicate and share any impediments or blockers to committed sprint work deadlines and/or possible process improvements.
• Work independently while being highly collaborative with team providing mentorship for other developers and peer programming workflow coordination
• Manage a variety of tasks & competing priorities, and complete tasks on-time in sprint deadlines.
• Learn quickly especially in areas of product training and mentoring, advance programming concepts, practice, and procedures.
• Enjoy being a problem solver. Able to self-correct, have a broad range of experience, and understand of the business value, short-term vision in terms of the project.
  
  
  

What you’ll need:

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, mathematics, or information systems
• Minimum of 7 years of experience with Java Programming.
  
  
  

Technical Requirements:

• Expert Level JAVA, Spring Boot framework, .NET.
• Expert Level in Soap and Restful API's
• Overall knowledge of back-end application design and development.
