Optavise a CNO Financial Group company is hiring a Sr. Medicare Advocate. The Sr. Medicare Advocate serves as a vital resource for individuals navigating the complexities of Medicare coverage. This role is a subject matter expert in Medicare policies, procedures, and regulations, and involves providing advice and support to members, ensuring they receive the best possible care and benefits. Additional activities include advocating for members facing coverage issues and ensuring that beneficiaries receive the benefits to which they are entitled. The specialist also educates members on Medicare requirements and works closely with healthcare providers and agencies to resolve issues and improve access to care. This role will also play a key role in developing and maintaining internal training programs related to Medicare, as well as client-facing presentations/webinars.

As a Sr. Medicare Advocate, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing comprehensive and personalized guidance to members regarding Medicare options, benefits, and enrollment processes.
- Educating members on Medicare Advantage Plans, Supplemental Insurance (Medigap), and Prescription Drug Plans.
- Conducting one-on-one consultations to assess clients' healthcare needs and Medicare options available that meet a member’s criteria.
- Assisting clients with Medicare claims and appeals processes.
- Developing, maintaining, and facilitating client-facing member presentations for webinars.
- Developing and maintaining, in coordination with the Optavise training team, a Medicare training program for Advocates.
- Serving as the “first-line-of-escalation” for more junior Advocates, providing expertise on how to manage certain issues or cases based on experience.
- Collaborating effectively with the Nurse Advocates to resolve complex cases or appeals.
- Using the Optavise custom designed case management system, consult with members who require help/guidance/actions with regards to Medicare program(s).
- Conducting external outreach to providers, carriers, and other healthcare agencies to follow through on open case tasks and see a case through successful resolution.
- Conducting external outreach calls as defined by the Optavise leadership team on behalf of clients who require outreach on special programs related to Medicare and support for Open Enrollment.
- Consulting on Open Enrollment activities, educating members and eligible employees on Medicare benefits available to them as they make decisions, including eligibility and costs.
- Staying up to date with changes in Medicare regulations and policies to provide accurate and current information to clients.
- Advocating for members to maximize their Medicare benefits and resolve coverage issues by collaborating with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other stakeholders to coordinate care and services.
- Maintaining detailed and accurate records of client interactions and case management activities.
- Participating in community outreach and educational events to promote Medicare awareness and enrollment.
- In-depth knowledge of Medicare regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Proficiency in healthcare insurance literacy to effectively communicate with members, physicians, and insurance carrier representatives both in writing and verbally.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate concepts, and plan terminology understood by healthcare professionals.
- Strong communication and writing skills and demonstrated ability to communicate complex information clearly and persuasively to provide education and support to all members and their dependents.
- The ability to collaborate effectively with peers to provide excellent service to members through case resolution.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving techniques to identify issues, root causes and possible solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and software for case management and record-keeping.
- Associate degree preferred
- Healthcare Administration, Social Work, related field, or requisite experience
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working with Medicare or in a similar advocacy role.
- Certified Medicare Counselor (CMC) or similar certification preferred
- Bachelor's Degree
