The Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD)Therapist provides therapeutic services for children, adolescents, and adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities through individual, family, and group modalities. They help individuals in the program work through their thoughts and feelings, learning new coping skills to reach their goals through a variety of different therapy modalities and other evidence-based practices.

Please Note: This position provides opportunities for some remote flexibility upon the successful completion of the training/onboarding period.

Compensation Range:

The starting pay for this position is $47,600 - $56,000 for limited licensed candidates, and $51,850 - $61,000 annual salary for fully licensed candidates, and is based on non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience.

  • Provides individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy services in alignment with the individual plan of service (IPOS) utilizing evidence-based practices and a trauma-informed approach.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, and evaluation of persons served as clinically appropriate.
  • Complete the appropriate screening and other assessments as clinically appropriate.
  • Focuses on improving therapeutic supports and functional skills in the areas of education, employment, social supports, wellness, self-management, and residential stability.
  • Provide crisis intervention when needed. Completion of lethality risk assessments as indicated (e.g. suicide/homicide/potential for violence/substance use) with dispositions and recommendations that are included in IPOS.
  • May collaborate with the case holder to support person-centered planning with assigned person served to identify needs and interventions.
  • Support the coordination of care for assigned cases by collaborating with internal and external providers.
  • May perform or facilitate the intake of new persons served as assigned.
  • Responsible for managing assigned caseload including ensuring that all individual documentation and authorizations are up-to-date, and following admission, transition, and discharge procedures.
  • Participate in team meetings, agency focus groups, work groups, and committees as assigned.
  • Support the development of agency staff and community partners by providing training as assigned.
  • May participate in internal and external presentations to provide education about IDD services.
  • Meet direct service productivity and documentation standards per agency and program expectations.
  • Maintain compliance with quality care initiatives including Meaningful Use (MU), Medicare Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) requirements.
  • Ensure that the CNS Healthcare standards of service are applied to interactions with individuals served, guests, and staff.
  • Assume responsibility for professional growth by current reading and attendance at educational programs and conferences.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:

Required

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy, AND
  • State licensure: Limited-Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LLMSW), Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LMSW), Limited-Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Limited-Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LLMFT), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Temporary Limited-License Psychologist (TLLP), Limited-Licensed Psychologist (LLP), OR Licensed Psychologist (LP)
  • Intellectual and Developmental Disability Professional:
    1. Possess or obtain Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) designation within 90 days of hire, and then maintain throughout employment.
    2. At least 1 year of experience involving the treatment of individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, can include internship or field placement experience.
  • Child Mental Health Professional:
    1. Posses or obtain Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP) designation within 90 days of hire, and then maintain throughout employment.
    2. At least 1 year of experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families.
  • Proficient with computers, Microsoft office products (including Outlook, Word, and Excel), and electronic health records (EHRs)
  • Ability to contribute to an inclusive environment that recognizes the value and contributions of all persons regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, religion, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability
  • Ability to work closely with persons with mental or physical limitations
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and build positive working relationships
  • Ability to use discretion and judgment when handling matters of a sensitive or confidential nature
  • Valid and unrestricted Driver’s License
  • Transportation or Automobile accessibility with current automobile/vehicle

Preferred

  • Prior experience working with all age groups including children; solution focused brief therapy; substance use and co-occurring disorders treatment; stages of change and/or motivational interviewing.
  • Experience in the community mental health setting.
  •  1 year of clinical experience in individual and group psychotherapy under clinical supervision.
  • 1 year of master level experience in the examination, evaluation, and evaluation of children with severe emotional disturbances.
