- Performs driving duties, other miscellaneous clerical and office duties.
- Reviews daily schedule and helps fellow drivers when not busy.
- Drives to and arrives at destinations as scheduled.
- Notifies agency staff and consumer when running late.
- Participate and promote departmental and agency quality improvement initiatives.
- Contacts consumer and agency in the event of a delay through the use of the company phone.
- Maintains a helpful and courteous attitude when interacting with consumers, visitors, and agency personnel
- Adheres to the posted speed limits and all State of Michigan laws that apply to motor vehicle
- Assists clients in and out of van.
- Maneuvers wheelchairs on and off the van lift
- Maintains and checks the fluid/gasoline levels in all vehicles
- Maintains a clean appearance of assigned vehicles
- Provides weekly reports to the department supervisor
- Performs miscellaneous clerical and office duties as assigned when not driving
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Experience:
- Required:
- 1 year of passenger transportation service experience
- Ability to operate a wheelchair lift
- No more than one moving violation within the past twelve months.
- No operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated or impaired by consumption due to alcohol
or illegal drugs within the past 8 years - No suspended, revoked, or expired license within the past five years.
- Intermediate level experience with computers and Microsoft office products
- Ability to work closely with persons with mental or physical limitations.
- Ability to drive safely in all types of weather and road conditions
- Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and courteously
- Ability to use discretion and judgmental when handling matters of a sensitive or
confidential nature - Intermediate time management, problem-solving, customer service, interpersonal, and
conflict resolution skills - Intermediate collaboration and team working skills.
- Ability to be forward-thinking and take initiative to accomplish goals and objectives of the
department

- Minimum high-school diploma or equivalent
Licenses & Certifications:

- Must have a valid and unrestricted Michigan Driver’s License
- Reliable transportation with current proof of insurance
