Our client, a publicly traded telecommunications co., is seeking a seasoned Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to join their executive leadership team and oversee all aspects of global accounting operations and financial reporting. This individual will partner closely with the executive team and provide strategic direction for accounting operations, internal controls, and compliance. The CAO will lead the accounting team and drive improvements in financial processes to support organizational goals, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Lead the global record-to-report process, including accounting operations, technical accounting, and consolidated financial reporting.
- Oversee the timely and accurate completion of consolidated financial statements, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
- Direct SEC reporting activities and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, FCPA, etc.).
- Partner with investor and debt relations to provide financial insights that effectively communicate the company’s performance.
Process Optimization and Operational Excellence:
- Maintain a high-performance accounting organization through process improvements and adoption of best practices.
- Collaborate across the organization to drive operational improvements, eliminate redundancies, and improve decision-making efficiency.
- Oversee internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with global accounting standards.
Team Development:
- Foster a culture of excellence within the accounting team, developing and mentoring staff to build a strong leadership pipeline.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration required. CPA certification required.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including at least 5 years at a senior executive level.
- Background in a global, multi-segment public company with Big 4 public accounting experience preferred.
- Proven track record of implementing process improvements and managing large-scale accounting operations.
Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance.
- Hands-on experience with financial due diligence, integration, and post-merger evaluation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a results-oriented approach to managing operations.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
