Driver Status: COA vehicles, Personal vehicle

Based at: Goldin Center (2320 West Burleigh Street, Milwaukee)

Mission: COA Youth & Family Centers nurtures children, supports families, and builds strong and resilient communities – one child, one family, one community at a time.

Summary

This position supervises all COA programming that occurs at Goldin Center including general operations, staff, programs, and related budgets. It also provides administrative, managerial, and professional support and oversight for these programs to ensure and maintain delivery of quality programs and services. This position is involved in agency strategic planning and visioning.

Direct Programs: Teen Program, Community Engagement & Family Resource Centers, HIPPY, & Kitchen

This is a full-time, year-round position eligible for benefits.

Main Job Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Demonstrate a leadership style focusing on communication, coaching, and support but is willing to discipline appropriately as needed.
  • Regularly meet with direct reports to meet program outcomes.
  • Identify areas of professional development needed and work to develop, schedule, and facilitate training.
  • Support with employee relations/personnel issues
  • Be able to answer questions about policies and procedures
  • Communicate details, rationale, and plan of action of agency-wide decisions

Program Management/Compliance

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulations.
  • Ensure consistent administrative, operational, and programmatic systems across sites.
  • Perform audits through regular unannounced site observations, review of program data and paperwork.

Financial

  • Develop annual budgets and maintain oversight of such budgets to ensure sound fiscal management.
  • Approve bills in bill monitoring data system weekly by deadline.
  • Ensure payroll allocations are accurate and submitted to Finance in a timely manner.
  • Ensure grant and program reporting is completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Partnership/Collaboration

  • Facilitate collaboration across departments and across sites
  • Develop strategic alliances and collaborative partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships within the Amani Neighborhood and with NOVA High School

Other

  • Model appropriate behavior at all times. This includes developing and maintaining appropriate professional relationships and boundaries with colleagues, visitors, donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, trainings, etc. as needed to remain current in industry knowledge.
  • Serve as member of the Executive Team.

Qualifications

Education/Knowledge/Experience

  • Associates Degree in a relevant field required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field preferred
  • Minimum three years’ supervisory/management experience required
  • Proven knowledge of youth work and community engagement programming preferred
  • Significant experience in program delivery and direct program management required
  • Experience working with a diverse population required
  • High proficiency in standard office software, especially Excel, required

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

The physical requirements for this position are the ability to:

  • Climb stairs
  • Sit and stand for long periods of time
  • Work with and in front of a computer for extended periods of time

The work environment is mainly an office environment, although the program sites are an active environment with urban youth and families in a variety of settings. This requires the ability to respond quickly to changing situations and be able to move around COA sites as needed. This position also requires some evening and weekend work.
