Position Overview
We are seeking a positive, enthusiastic, skilled and reliable Part-Time Chef to prepare daily meals that are nutritious, appealing, and recovery-focused. The ideal candidate will provide lunch, dinner, and snacks for residents, ensuring meals are not only health-conscious but beautifully presented to uplift and energize those in treatment. Meals should be easy for staff to serve with clear preparation or reheating instructions.
Key Responsibilities
· Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare balanced, nutritious lunches, dinners, and snacks in alignment with dietary needs for individuals in detox and recovery.
· Food Budgeting: Operate within a set food budget while maximizing quality, variety, and nutritional value.
· Inventory Management: Order, receive, and manage inventory of food supplies, ensuring freshness, quality, and cost efficiency.
· Meal Instructions: Create clear, easy-to-follow instructions for staff to reheat or prepare meals when needed.
· Kitchen Hygiene: Maintain a clean, organized kitchen that meets all local health and safety regulations.
· Collaboration: Work with clinical and healthcare staff to accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and individualized nutritional needs.
· Presentation & Appeal: Prepare meals that not only nourish but also visually impress—enhancing the dining experience and creating a sense of care and dignity.
· Quality Control: Monitor portion sizes, consistency, and taste to ensure every meal meets CVRC’s standards.
· Friendly and enthusiastic with a positive attitude; able to engage with residents in a warm, encouraging, and educational manner around food and nutrition, serving as a supportive presence in their recovery journey.
Qualifications
· Proven experience as a chef or cook, preferably in a residential, healthcare, or recovery-based setting.
· Knowledge of nutrition and the ability to design meals that promote healing and recovery.
· Strong understanding of portion control, food presentation, and dietary requirements.
· Ability to adhere to a food budget without compromising on quality or creativity.
· Excellent organizational and time management skills.
· Comfortable working independently and in collaboration with a team. Openness to take direction from leadership.
· Food safety certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Work Schedule
Part-time to full time flexible hours.
Responsible for planning and preparing lunch, dinner, and snacks in advance.
