Job Title: Senior Credit Analyst

 

Primary Purpose: To evaluate the credit worthiness and assess the risks associated with granting credit terms to our customers (department stores, specialty stores, wholesalers, distributors, etc.) and vendors by obtaining financial statements, bank and trade references, and credit agency reports in order to minimize the risk of bad debt due to write-offs.

 

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in Credit Analysis to...

  • Effectively manage multi-million dollar portfolio of domestic and international accounts. Portfolio consists of approximately 1,000 major and specialty accounts on a combined basis
  • Determine credit worthiness through the analysis of cash flow, working capital, and net worth reconciliation
  • Assign/recommend and maintain credit lines on both major and specialty accounts with timely follow up for annual and interim financial information, as well as bank and trade references
  • Support the Credit Manager in all credit process related matters
  • Contact and develop customer relationships
  • Prepare formal write-ups on problematic accounts and exposures over assigned level of authority
  • Keep management and sales informed of any significant problematic situations
  • Effectively negotiate and manage special arrangements (standby letters of credit or prepayment) on marginal/problematic accounts to maximize sales volume and mitigating risk
  • Review and consistently update the hold report to ensure orders are released in an expeditious manner
  • Apply knowledge of international trade, commercial and bankruptcy laws in certain situations
  • Ensure credit and collection problems are handled promptly to minimize losses resulting from bad debt, and inability to ship
  • Potential travel depending on business needs

 

The accomplished individual will possess...

  • Strong financial statement analysis and the ability to submit formal written account analysis and recommendations
  • Solid aptitude for math and accounting procedures
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) skill set
  • Utilization of multiple internal systems and software packages (SAP, JDE, Microsoft Excel and Word)
  •  Familiarity with standard sources of credit information and rating agencies

 

An outstanding professional will have...

  • Degree in related field and/or 4-5 years of credit experience required
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and how to read, analyze, and interpret them. (A sample written account analysis and recommendation will be requested.)
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment; detail orientated and self-motivated
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and team oriented
  • SAP experience is a plus
