What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)- PRN position at Coal County General Hospital?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Medical Technician is responsible for all duties as it pertains to the Laboratory department. As a Medical Technician, must be able to perform high complexity tests. Duties include but not limited to performing phlebotomy to obtain specimens via venipuncture, diagnostic tests, quality control preparation of curves and reagents, and other work as assigned by supervisor. Will rotate call duty with other personnel in the laboratory, if necessary.
2 Year Certification
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs diagnostic tests and all associated duties such as calibrations, quality control, and preparation of reagents and materials.
- Stocks and order supplies as necessary acquiring appropriate approvals from lab supervision.
- Performs phlebotomy to obtain specimens as necessary.
- Maintains additional records as assigned by supervisor.
- Must be able to rotate call duty with other personnel in the department and respond in a timely manner, if necessary.
- Perform any other duty as assigned by laboratory supervision.
Qualification:
- Associates Degree
- Blood Bank certified
- Eligible but may or may not have passed the MLT (ASCP) registry test
