Overview

The paralegal provides support to the General Counsel while maintaining proficiency in the performance of duties, a high degree of attention to detail and professional handling of highly sensitive and confidential matters. The primary job responsibilities will be filing small claims litigation cases for outstanding debt and responding to small claims cases filed against the company. This position interacts with various internal and external groups, attorneys, public employees and the general public in performing job responsibilities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare legal documents; pleadings, such as motions, affidavits, contracts, initial and amended articles of incorporation.

Assist in gathering information and documents in response to legal requests; coordinate distribution of information and documents with outside legal counsel.

Comfortable reviewing, revising, and advising Operations on contracts.

Ensure satisfaction of deadlines through execution of dated correspondence and court calendar management.

Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, rules, regulations, recorded judicial decisions and legal articles.

Update and maintain all pertinent Statutes, Administrative Codes and Dental Board Rules.

Maintain departmental files in the filing system and directories, ensuring proper indexing, scanning and filing of original legal documents.

Perform general clerical duties as needed, such as screening incoming calls; coordinating/scheduling meetings and/or conference calls; maintaining departmental calendar; composing and typing departmental correspondence.

Additional projects and/or responsibilities as assigned.

Confidentiality - Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

 

Qualifications (Experience, Education, Licensure, Certification)

Bachelor's Degree or at least two years of relevant work experience and/or training. Experience in health care preferred.

Familiarity with dental regulatory matters and the operational aspects of running a dental care organization is a plus.

Notary Public certification preferred.

Knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software, Word, Outlook, Westlaw, and knowledge in Excel and Power Point.

 

Working Conditions

The Paralegal will work in areas that are highly visible and designed and furnished to make a good impression. Most work stations are clean, well-lighted, and relatively quiet. Work is primarily sedentary in nature.
