The Excavation Operator is responsible for safely operating specialized machinery used for demolishing, grading, and preparing jobsites.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently to properly excavate earth, subgrade, and sub-base surfaces to ensure surface is level and of the proper consistency, per the scope of work.
- Read and understand blueprints, sitemaps, grading specifications.
- Must partner with other crew members to ensure per plan specifications and perform tasks as instructed by crew foreman to ensure daily schedules/estimates are met.
- May operate a variety of hand and power tools as well as other equipment needed to complete jobs within specifications.
- Additional tasks of other positions and duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires the following motions: stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching, and squatting.
- Physical ability to operate equipment under temperature extremes, for extended hours of time.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
- May be exposed to vehicular traffic.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Additional Requirements:
- Attendance is required according to company attendance policy to ensure the crew is able to operate at normal efficiency level.
- Participates and cooperates in all company scheduled training, briefings, and meetings.
- Provides a positive professional attitude when dealing with co-workers, customers, and the public.
- Ability to be flexible with last-minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work may be required.
- Abide by Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements as well as local, municipal, state, and federal laws.
- Applicants applying for driving positions must be a minimum of 25 years of age to meet insurance underwriting requirements for insurability.
Background Requirements:
- Construction/ Excavation experience required. A minimum of 2 years preferred.
- A valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.
- Read and interpret laser level & grade rod.
- Experience in underground utility installation: Storm, Sanitary Sewer, Electrical, etc.
