Excavation Operator

Job Summary:
The Excavation Operator is responsible for safely operating specialized machinery used for demolishing, grading, and preparing jobsites.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Operate equipment safely and efficiently to properly excavate earth, subgrade, and sub-base surfaces to ensure surface is level and of the proper consistency, per the scope of work.
• Read and understand blueprints, sitemaps, grading specifications.
• Must partner with other crew members to ensure per plan specifications and perform tasks as instructed by crew foreman to ensure daily schedules/estimates are met.
• May operate a variety of hand and power tools as well as other equipment needed to complete jobs within specifications.
• Additional tasks of other positions and duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• This position requires the following motions: stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching, and squatting.
• Physical ability to operate equipment under temperature extremes, for extended hours of time.
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
• May be exposed to vehicular traffic.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Additional Requirements:

• Attendance is required according to company attendance policy to ensure the crew is able to operate at normal efficiency level.
• Participates and cooperates in all company scheduled training, briefings, and meetings.
• Provides a positive professional attitude when dealing with co-workers, customers, and the public.
• Ability to be flexible with last-minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work may be required.
• Abide by Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements as well as local, municipal, state, and federal laws.
• Applicants applying for driving positions must be a minimum of 25 years of age to meet insurance underwriting requirements for insurability.

Background Requirements:

• Construction/ Excavation experience required. A minimum of 2 years preferred.
• A valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.
• Read and interpret laser level & grade rod.
• Experience in underground utility installation: Storm, Sanitary Sewer, Electrical, etc.

Preplacement Requirements
All Potential Candidates must be willing to submit to the company required background check(s) as applicable and preplacement drug analysis to be considered for hire.

$32-35 to start DOE
