What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Manager position at Coast to Coast Conferences & Events?
We’re looking for a driven Business Development Manager to grow our client base, expand our market presence, and help us exceed sales goals. This role involves networking, strategic planning, and managing the sales pipeline, with flexibility for in-person, hybrid, or remote work arrangements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead Generation & Networking
- Attend virtual and in-person networking events and conferences to identify and pursue new prospect opportunities.
- Establish and nurture relationships with Visitors and Convention Bureaus, hotels, and venues to position CTC as the preferred referral choice.
- Reconnect with past CTC clients and prospects to generate future business opportunities.
Sales Strategy & Implementation
- Meet sales goals developed in collaboration with the Leadership Team.
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to expand CTC's client base.
- Prepare accurate sales, revenue, expense reports, and realistic forecasts with the Sales Coordinator, to present to the Leadership Team.
- Identify emerging markets and market trends while identifying new services and competitor activities.
- Collaborate with the Leadership Team to identify and pursue new revenue streams.
Pipeline Management
- Create and present compelling proposals to prospective clients.
- Upsell services to existing clients to grow profitability.
- Efficiently manage the sales process and track tasks using CTC's Project Management and CRM system (ClickUp, HubSpot)
- Build long-term client relationships by understanding and meeting needs.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 years of experience in sales, business development, or related roles: Demonstrates an ability to identify and pursue prospect opportunities, ideally in events, hospitality, or a similar industry.
- Experience in lead generation and client engagement: Ability to establish and nurture relationships with clients, venues, and other industry stakeholders (e.g., Convention Bureaus, hotels).
- Experience in setting and achieving sales targets: Proven track record in meeting or exceeding sales goals through a strategic sales plan.
- Exposure to market analysis and research: Ability to assess market shifts, emerging trends, and competitor activities to guide sales strategy.
- Experience with CRM and Project Management tools (e.g., ClickUp, HubSpot): Familiarity with CRM software to track prospects, manage relationships, and efficiently handle the sales process.
- Proposal development and upselling skills: Ability to create compelling proposals and upsell services to existing clients.
- Experience in reporting and forecasting: Ability to prepare sales, revenue, and expense reports and provide realistic forecasts for management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills: Skilled in creating persuasive proposals and presentations, and managing client relationships effectively.
- Background in client relationship management: Demonstrates a client-focused approach with experience in building strong, long-term relationships.
